***help Please Anyone?? Yes Car Credit Will They Be Looking For Me???***

Hi everyone. Around 5 years ago me and an ex partner bought a car together on finance from Yes Car Credit. After about a year the car was stollen and found burnt out by police. The company Yes Car Credit went under around the same time. Since then I have moved house several times but now I have bought a house (mortgaged) with my new partner. I had a few debts that I left behind when I left my ex partner and heard nothing from them until today I got a debt collecting letter from vodafone from the same address as I lived when I had the car. Will Yes Car Credit be looking for me to pay this car off? I obviously don't have it anymore and I think there was about £6000 outstanding on it!
I am sh*tting myself now as I don't work (just had a baby) and am dreading a demand coming through this door!
Anyone had any experience with Yes Car Credit and if they will of 'forgot' about my debt??
Thanks anyone that can give advice xxx

The debt didn't disappear just because Yes ceased trading:The company, which offered cars on finance to people with poor credit records, closed with £240m in outstanding loans on its books. It is now chasing these loans through Direct Auto Finance, a company set up by Provident to administer existing YCC accounts. A large slice of the debts has also been sold on, mainly to three debt collection agencies - Go Debt, Redcastle, and Geldard Solicitors.
The chances are that someone WILL find you eventually and chase you for the money. Try looking at your credit file and see if it still shows on there.
Didn't you claim off the insurance when the car was stolen?

how come when a company goes under you lose everything but they can still be after you for any debt?!!!
See thats why I say 'surely' as I wasn't 100%
Like beanie said check your credit file though DCAs don't show up or at least not on mine.0 -

No I didn't claim, I started but I was made homeless soon after my break up and when I heard it had gone under I just gave it up as a bad experience. Wish I hadn't now. Will it definately show up on my credit report if I am going to get billed for it? If it's not on my credit report does that mean it might of been written off or forgotten about? Im really worried now!0 -
no just sold on.
Any finance goes on your file for 6 years so Yes Car Credit will show up, probably stating 'closed as of xxx outstanding balance xxx' - it's been sold on.0 -

So what if its showing that it's been sold on? Does that mean They will come and get me eventually? I'm scared if I get my free credit rating with expeirian it will give all the creditors my address? Or will they have it already? Some DCAs specialise in debts well over 10 years old.
Oh my God I feel sick...0 -
Yes, someone somewhere will have the debt.So what if its showing that it's been sold on?
They'll track you down eventually, look at some of thre threads on here from members whose been contacted years later, even tho the debt is statue barred.Does that mean They will come and get me eventually?
Look, you've nothing to be scared about, a debt is a civil matter not criminal, you've nothing to be scared about, if they find you, you pay what you can afford.I'm scared if I get my free credit rating with expeirian it will give all the creditors my address?
As for the credit reference agencies, I wouldn't trust them with my details, after all, there funded by the financial instiutions.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

getting your report does nothing to your creditors. How did Vodafone get your new address is your partner with them?
What was the last date you paid them? after 6 years they can't ask for payment0
