    maybe go back to the original creditor?
    you have no paper work or bank statements? (i know 6 years is a bit much)

    The debt collection agency probably won't know and even if they did, they would probably lie and say that it isn't statute barred just to make you pay up!

    Get a copy of your credit file and see if the debt appears on there maybe? Other than that I'm not sure how you could find the date that you last maade a payment.

    oh credit file is a good idea :) you should be able to see your payments and when they stopped i.e. 1 month arrears, 2 months, default etc
