I cant think of one bank that provides a good alround service to customers.
It seems that if a bank pays goos savings rates they provide less than average services and vice versa
I have an Barclays Account that had good internet banking but poor rates
an abbey account that paid better rates but has poor internet banking
an A&L that now has poor rates and poor internet banking
an Halifax account that has sometimes has better rates than most but a sometimes confussing internet banking and sometimes unreliable.
And a Tesco internet saver account that has the worste service that I have ever seen in a company but better interest rates than all the above.

Tesco rates are not that good and I understand they are about to fall again. So you can take them off your list."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

smile for really good customer service eg today they got £65 refunded to me from a company that did not supply the goods. I have never had any fault with the bank throughout my 25 years with them
Their rates on deposits are poor though0 -
I was thinking about this last night and my conclusion is that in one way or another, we pay for good service. If the bank gives us a good service, then we don't get good rates. I've reached a stage where it's just too stressful to have a good rate (not that many of them are that good now) and poor service. I can't afford to take time out to call premium numbers to complain about poor service. I don't have time to go to the branch because the online service is lously. I've heard very good things about First Direct and that's where I would put my money if I met their requirement of £1,500 paid each month into the account. I think if you buy other products from them, you don't need to qualify in this way but it's best to check out their website. As for having several bank accounts, I've tried this but for me, it's difficult to keep track of everything.0

alround service to customersI can't you right.
Wow, spelling and grammar have really taken hits in this thread. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
I was with first direct who provided a very good service and reasonable rates. I have since moved to A&L, who have reportedly poor service (not that I have reason to complain) chasing rates. However, as freeasabird reasons, I will probably go back to first direct when my bonus rate runs out as contact with them was so easy!Mortgage £120K, monthly overpayment £600, 18 years and £100K saved0

How about Coutts & Co? I haven't heard anything bad about them yet, but I think you have be quite wealthy for them to take you on as a customer.
Forget that one, have just Googled them and it would seem they are owned by RBS.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
Tend to support SavingSteve.
I have just moved to A&L after doing a review of what was avaiilable.
The transfer process could not have been better - loads of stuff in the post but I'm sure that will be the same with all banks if you go for the full works as I have.0
