Parking ticket on motorbike (Pay and Display)

my dad got a ticket on his motorcycle the other day is that right? Normally pay and display car parks that charge bikes have a number to call ater you have paid or a ticket but this particular one didn't so my dad stuck his ticket to his speedometer and let he came back to his ticket missing, suprise!suprise! and a parking ticket or £40! surely they can't prove he didnt buy a ticket, its the most ridiculous thing! help is he going to win? thanks:confused:

Its unusual for motorcycles to be required to pay and display for that reason in my experience.

Sadly, you have no evidence to substantiate that the ticket was purchased, unless payment was made by mobile phone or a debit/ credit card. The ticket purchased may well have been pinched 2 minutes after it was displayed by another opportunist motorist.

in canterbury, we lived in a small house in a tiny dead end road and my son parked his motorbike on the pavement right outside the window and chained it to the wall, through a loop that had been there for years, for that purpose. he got a ticket!!!! and there was nothing we could do to get out of it. canterbury parking wardens are notorious!! if he had been in the public car park, he wouldnt have even had to BUY as ticket. but this was right outside our front door.xxx

If you want assistance in fighting this then post photos/scans of the ticket and any paperwork received, howto in stickies. Photo's of bay, signs and machine may assist the experts. Lots of councils cannot get things completely right so there's a fair chance.

At £40 it is extremely unlikely that this is a Council ticket. That lowest possible charging tier is used by very very few.

i'm guessing private in which case normal advice applies - ignore.

    OP should clarify who issued.
