Firstly you'll need a passport, day runs are very inexpensive, (Dover to Calais/Boulogne) sometime you can get £19 return and then head up to Adinkerke for you ciggies
It would be heck of a long day for a day trip though from the Northwest. I live in Cheshire and would never dream of doing it in a day

    Alison,

We live in Northern Ireland and travel via Scotland then England to the continent. We normally stay overnight in France, but the savings are well worth it and more than pay for the trip.

  • Hi
    Cheekymole just a quick question
How long do you think it would take to do the shopping, I have to book the times for the eurotunnel, outward and inward, and I was just wondering how long it would take us.
Don't want to leave us short of time but not to long neither, unless there's thing to do in Calais?

    Thanks

From the North-West I would look for a cheap flight to Belgium for a run like that....Any shop in Belgium is cheaper than Calais...

I'm lucky, my parents live in Knokke......

Hi wonderfullife, sorry for the delay, I reckon you should catch an early crossing at about 6.30 ish, you will arrive at 8am ish (french time). Allow yourself 1 1/2 hours to get to Adinkerke and back and then a few hours in cite europe to stock up on your wine and beer etc. There is a carrefour and tesco for alcohol so don't forget your clubcard. There are also numerous other shops etc with one end being restaurants etc. So you could maybe have your tea then catch a 6.30/7.30 ish back.
I love the place but you might not!!!

    East Enders
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.
