Bounce

I don't know if the following would count as money saving tips, considering the price of Bounce sheets. However, I thought you might find the following useful:
Subject: Bounce
Great Tip....Who woulda thought???
A mail carrier told me that the US Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow jackets away.
Always use them when playing baseball and soccer or when working outside. It really works.
The yellow jackets just veer around you.
And all this time you've just been putting Bounce in the dryer!
It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them.
It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.
Repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
Eliminates static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.
Freshen the air in your home. Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
Freshen the air in your car. Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food.
Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.
Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. Keeps them smelling fresh.
My apologies if these tips have appeared elsewhere on the forum but I am a newbie and the forum is so large I haven't read it all yet

make your own BOunce and save a bomb by getting a good fab softner and diluting it a mug of softner to 3 mugs of water
pour it over a roll of cheap J cloths in a tupperware container and let it soak up the softner
put the lid on and then just take a sheet off as and when
;D
or use a good kitchen towel so it doesnt fall to bits and you can also do this with Flash instead of flash wipes
dettol and anti bacterial cleaner for kitchen wipes
and then re use the J cloths0 -
I found this even better
Rather than buy expensive dryer sheets, I make my own. I found a Tupperware pickle keeper (the one with the lift up center) at a garage sale. I fill it about a 1/4 full with liquid fabric softener and the rest of the way with water. Then, buy cheap sponges and cut them in half and soak them in the fabric softener solution. When you run a dryer load, wring out one sponge (not totally dry, but not dripping) and put it in the dryer with the clothes. When the load is dry, put the sponge back in the softener solution. This really works and is much less expensive than dryer sheets. You can use any brand that smells nice to you. You can even water the fabric softener down more if you like.0 -
Bounce sheets are so expensive.
What is the anti-static ingredient in them? Is this also in other fabric softeners, which are suggested for the making your own alternatives?
Will cheaper tumble-dryer sheets also do everything that bounce sheets do?0 -
Use a tennis ball instead of dryer sheet, it gets all the static out.Bulletproof0

fabric softner also takes static out of clothes
bounce are just impregnated baby wipe type sheets probably rapidly sprayed with softener and sold at vastly inflated prices
something like a £4 for 20 or thereabouts0 -

Great tip! But what about the noise of the bouncing ball in the dryer - would drive me nuts!I love it when a plan comes together :rotfl:0
