Hi before i start please be gentle not that technical,we are currently with BT on a normal broadband contract via a router. My wife has decided to learn how to operate the computer and purchased a laptop has well,i contacted BT to go on a wireless network but have been advised we can only get 0.8 meg download? which they say is very slow and would not reccomend.I am now looking at mobile broadband with O2 or Vodafone so we can then share the dongle,Wife in the daytime and i at night, very confused which is the best for us or if anyone can advise a better alternative please do so REGARDS

First of all do a speed check here...
http://www.speedtest.net/
This will show you what speed you do get now. If you buy a wireless router you can connect the pc to this via the ethernet cable and presumably the laptop will be wireless enabled and will be able to connect to the internet via the wireless router. Best to look at these options before you think about dongles for mobile broadband.0 -
You are unlikely to want mobile (with dongle) unless you plan to use outside your home.
For Landline broadband It is the router that is wirless or not. The 'broadband' is no diffrent. All you would need is a wireless router.
If I was you I would ask o2 to give you a price for a landline service and to test your line to see what speed you would get. If you take an o2 service its cheap, service good and you get wirless router.
When comparing mobile and landline internet you want to compare speed and also if there is download limit to how much data you can download. The advantage of mobile is just like mobile phone, you can take it outside the home( if you get signal)
It could be worth shopping around a little I used o2 as they were the cheapest at the time and had good speed and customer service0
