Please help - Toddler scribbled on the walls in my rented flat

Hi there,
I am staying in a rented flat and I will be vacating the flat in a couple of weeks. Our walls are painted in white and I can remove ordinary stains on the walls by wiping them off with wet cloth.

My toddler son has scriblled on the walls in our bedroom with a ballpen and I couldnt remove it as it is not washable. I tried using the ink eraser(?) solution but that also has left marks..

I have been in the rented flat all years and I dont have any idea about the kind of painting etc.,that can be used...

Please can someone advise me how to remove these ballpen marks from the wall??

I would be very grateful if someone could give me ideas.

Many thanks

Just re-paint the wall using Matt white paint. You can do it with a big brush.

I agree. Repaint the entire wall.

Blue ballpoint will come off with bleach - I used a cotton bud dipped in it. I haven't found anything to get black off (believe me I've been in exactly the same position as you!)

You'll end up having to do less coats if you can get rid of as much as you can but it's not totally necessary, no.

Hi use hairspray it will take the ink off. Do this before painting otherwise the ink could bleed through the fresh paint. Another way to get ink out is milk or nail varnish remover.

Try a baby wipe. I always use Pampers. They are amazing at getting stains out.

Hairspray or a milk soaked cloth usually works on biro but requires a wee bit of rubbing and work.

sugar soap gets all manner of marks off, i used it with a sponge and it got everything off when I moved it, kind of like T-Cut it takes grease and sometimes the top layer off. Might get it good enough to leave without repainting, if not try to just go over the line with a tester pot really fine then wipe it again to smear/blend it in, not your wall and you are allowed reasonable wear and tear, it sounds like you have kept the place nice as you are worried about this, so I would just tart it up. If it really looks bad then a repaint is probably your best bet, if your really bad / worried you could use the delux pink ceiling paint (other might also do it cheaper), goes on pink so you know where you have been but dries bright white, its also designed to splatter less so might make a cleaner job. Use a roller and you wont get brush hairs or lines, only use the brush for cutting in (the edges, which is best to do first anyhow then fill).

ps check the loft / under stairs / shed as if it was painted prior to you arriving you might have paint left laying about, i have often found old paint and odds and sods left about which is great for touch ups.
