ICICI bank identity

ICICI are a lot tougher then others on what they accept even if they accept certified copies.
Most places accept original copies of my DLA letter and also an original copy of my bank statement. I have no problem with them as the DLA letter can be replaced and the bank statement is not a matter of life and death or anything and to be honest I don't need it. However ICICI require certified documents and have not taken into consideration that not everyone wants to spend money getting them certified. You are not comparing like with like.0 -
ICICI didn't used to require copies for the HiSave, because it was all done through the initial deposit cheque being from a UK bank in the holders name
Probably means the FSA have wrapped their knuckles and told them to ask for more!0 -
I am in the area so tomorrow I am going to take with me my passport, bank statement but I am worried as the specimen showed a date of birth and my bank statment does not have one but my passport does so that should be ok.
Hopefully they will be able to post it for me through the internal post even though it has stated earlier they don't do that.0 -
What a horrible experience they know very little about British banking. Can I send my building society passbook in as I may need my bank statement?0

How very snobbish of you. What a horrible experience they know very little about British banking. Can I send my building society passbook in as I may need my bank statement?
As someone pointed out, the BRITISH FSA set the rules.
ICICI used to have a lot easier account opening rules before the BRITISH FSA got their hands on them0 -
They fail to understand basic banking procedure at the East Ham branch. I am not snobbish just expecting a competent bank. Other non UK banks offer a more professional service.0

i opened an a hisave account about 18 months ago no problem seems they have made it harder to open an account, for your info i have had no problems at all with them great website, speedy transactions0

I had enough with them and to be honest it is the branch and the fact that I don't think they know the answer to my questions. I had it after all and can't be bothered anymore. Phoning them up was the last straw.
I took my passport and the woman at the branch still wanted a driving licence.0 -
The fact that they are a incompetent at the branch is hardly limited to the fact that they are non-British! Have you never been to a branch of Barclays!?0
-
I have been to Barclays and I am surprised that they are not in trouble yet.
I meant that the staff who are British did not understand the system I was not implying that foreign banks did not as some of the best I had dealings with have been foreign. I was referring to the staff. Looking at the set up I think that the FSA getting strict and the way they are set up are not designed for good customer service.
There are a lot of other bad banks for example Birmingham Midshires have not yet cashed my cheque for the internet bond and Yorkshire Building Society leave a lot to be desired along with most other things.0
