ICICI bank identity

I have applied to open a bank account with them for the HiSAVE account. They require me to send in certified copies of documents. The thing is that I don't want to spend a lot of time and mony getting certified copies. I would not even know where to begin?
Is there anyway round it? As most banks accept my bank statement and DLA letter.

They have two branches in London, if you have the time you can go in person and they will certify the copies, so no cost other than time. Otherwise they are not accomodative to other forms of identity in my experience.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Seems there is a few more branches now than when I opened my accounts. Not sure which one is their HQ, but it wasn't the Knightsbridge one, as I got my documents certified there and had to take them away and post them, I have a feeling it may have been the Wembley one but not sure. They don't really do customer service, any other bank I have done this with have put the copies in their internal mail.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Thank you. I will contact them via email and see what I need to do. I have tried but failed to find the branch details.0

ahai1, read Tradetime's post. On the first line the word "branches" is in blue. Click on it and it will take you to a list of all 11 branches. Click on the branch nearest to you and a seperate window will open giving that branch's contact details.0

I have found them after reading the link provided what I meant was that before that link I had great diffculty finding it.
I will take my passport and my bank statement and have them both certified. I hope I can use the certified stuff for other things.0 -

Certified copies are certified by someone else not ICICI. Your bank, solicitor or similar should do it but may well change. If you take them to a branch of ICICI they should (but don't have to) simple note they have seen the originals.
The whole point is to avoid needing to find their branch. Several organisations will not accept anything than the originals so they arent being too bad.0 -
I disagree they are bad in the sense that you have to provide a certified copy and there is no way around it the majority of banks and building societies accept non certified copies of documents. For example I send a DLA letter and a bank statement and they accept them but here the lists are.
1. Proof of ID.
[*]A certified photocopy of your current passport or
[*]A certified photocopy of your UK driving licence (this cannot be a provisional licence) or
[*]A certified photocopy showing your Blue Badge with your photo (for disabled customers only).2. Proof of address.
[*]An original or a certified photocopy of a gas bill or electricity bill or council tax bill or phone bill. The bill must not be more than three months old. (Note:We cannot accept mobile-phone bills) or
[*]An original or a certified copy of latest UK Bank Statement, this must not be more than three months old. All original documents will be sent back to you. I have also noticed that in the address proof they require a date of birth. My bank statement does not have one.
If they are going to be that insistant than I might as well call it a day.0 -
Lloyds TSB and HBOS (before the merger) both required original documents from my wife last year (before the takeover / merger). The difference is we could go to any branch but failing that they expected us to post the originals not certified copies. If you think about it it is the same rules that the passport agency apply!
The same was true of my daughter at Abbey.
Ideally you want an organisation which will succede in checking electronically which ICICI did for my wife when HBOS couldnt.
It all depends on their interpretation of the anti money laundering rules and which credit reference agencies they use. Never easy and ICICI are not known for their flexibility!0
