Download the file given to you by albertross and save it to somewhere secure on your computer. I would say your main hard drive. This is so that any backups made by the program automatically are not lost.

Scan your computer with HJT ... two things will happen.

First your PC will be "scanned" (only takes a short while) then a logfile report in Notepad appears on your screen.

You can copy and paste that report into the online analyser albertross suggests but it is up to you what you do with the results.

You can also post the logfile report to this thread and we'll give you help here.

Sorry to hijackthis thread (joke... geddit :D )

I clicked on the pop-up to install Winfixer last night (I KNOW!!! :o ) I stopped the install half way through but the icons appeared on my desktop. I restarted in safe mode and ran AVG, Ad aware and Spyware Doctor, all came back clear.

I've just installed and run hijackthis from albertross's link and I now have a notepad logfile which is incredibly long and means nothing to me.

Could someone point me in the right direction? I don't know whether I have a problem or not at this point and am stuck.

    Many thanks x x x

    Hello Jay-Jay

What you need to do is start your own "new topic" in the forum and copy/paste the logfile report to that thread. Please also give a description of any problems you are experiencing.

It may be everything is runing OK and that you managed to stop Winfixer before it got a foothold in your computer.

We'll look at the log and see if it reveals anything nasty. I'm not on this site all that often so you may like to send me a PM to let me know you have posted your own topic.
