screenselect customer service

Options
Been a member of SS for a fewmonths now, and must say i find their customer service getting slow, slower and ever slowerer. In means of when one sends a dvd title back, one expects another to be selected and posted the same day. i have been on trials with Lovefilm and Blockbust, and dvd365, and had no problems with their service.
i was expecting a title to be allocated for me now, but when i called to ask why nothing has been allocated, the guy who picked up the phone, did not have any idea why, and no understanding how their system works. I requested if he could check my account and ensure a title is in the post.
(BTW my account hold over 50 titles, a good mix of old and new movies including many foreign stuff, so would expect at least one to be availble for dispacth).

Has anyone else had any slow experiences with SS?
If so get on the phone with them..tel no is
0808 2000 194. Press option 1, 'on internet now' for a faster response. The managers email is
phalpin@screenselect.co.uk, i will be emailing him a complaint.

maybe if more members can complain about SS they will do something. If they dont improve in the next few weeks, i will be voting with my feet and moving to another club. Does anyone know of anyother good clubs/free trials?

If you had no problems with Lovefilm, Blockbuster and dvd365, why don't you stop using screenselect and use on of them??

    Good question.

When we used the lovefim, they were expensive at the time compared to thers, 3dvds at £19.99/mth, but i think they have brought their prices down.

Blockbuster..good service, but only limited foreign choice available, and no option for only 2dvds at a time.

Screenselect..because at the time, they were very good and efficient, and have a very good choice of titles, and still do, just let down by a very slow customer service.

Still having no probs with Screenselect :)

i left love film (dvdsontap) as their turnaround was soooo slow

If screenselect don't drop their price to match Blockbuster soon then i'll move again :)

    Debeast,

Ring SS and ask them about when they are dropping their charges...

I had no problem so far with SS (a smooth ride compared to my experience with DVD365), I am using the 2DVDs option at £11.99. Contacted Blockbuster but they do not do the 2DVDs option (not yet who knows) so I am staying with SS while asking them if they are going to consider a discount (keep you posted on that one) . So far they kindly aggreed to put on hold my account - i.e. no payment but no need to return whatever dvds are in my hand at that time - for 2 weeks for my summer holidays (apparently it is standard they can do that for 2 weeks maximum every 6 months, cool I did not know about it).
I just wonder if the delay could not be linked to your postal service ? I spoted a 'good' letter box in my area so when I post my DVDs and I am sure that it reaches SS next day, I tested others and it look a bit longer... just a thought !
    Cheers

Got a satisfactory reply from SS manager via email within a few days, plus a week free rental. So decided to give them some more time to see if they improve turnaround times.

That was the only factor i had faulted SS - turnaround times from posting a new title when old one is received. Otehrwise customer service and choice of titles are good. At least they replied back to my email complaint.

    Good consumer result
    ;D

  • A word of warning about screeselect free trial. I joined a 3 weeks' free trial on the 10th February and a week later they took money out of my account without notice. I found out only at the end of my trial and cancelled immediately although I was thinking of staying on. But how can they advertise a free trial if they take the money out of us? I sent 3 emails to the customer service but they haven't replied up to now. Very bad service. Very disappointed.
  • I found the quickest way to get through to Screen Select was to scribble down a quick letter and wrap the DVD that you're returning in the letter within their own envelope, they got back to me very quickly then. And sorted everything out properly. :D
    Good Luck.

I like that idea! Sounds good. i requested many times via emil and website for new titles, but never receive a response lately.

    Will try it.
