Just taken a call from my son who said "please ask your friends on MSE to find me a phone". It seem's he's either lost his, or my grandson has secreted it away somewhere and not being able to talk yet................
He would like a monthly of £4.99 per month, with 500 cross network and 100 texts.
It dosen't matter which network.
It dosen't matter what make.
It dosen't matter if it has a camera or not.
What DOES matter is that it is easily obtainable and soon, ie courier. If it has a payment method ie "up-front" please explain how this is done.
Currently I have to go out and therefore unable to read all posts, so maybe some kind soul would oblidge me with a quick solution so that tomorrow am we can do the deal. Thanks in anticipation.

A good company to deal with is e2save (backed by Carphone Warehouse). See post by Smartasss here £15 EXTRA for you and £5 for charity

Thanks guys. So, by going to this company, they will send us a FREE Nokia 7600 and for FREE, get 500 cross network minutes, accompanied by 100 FREE texts.
So two things come to mind.
1) how do they make money. I cannot believe for one minute they will not require some cash from us.
2) is the above IS so, then what happens after the 12 months has elapsed ?
The only thing I can think of regarding money, is it that they HOPE we exceed the 500 mins & 100 texts and then charge? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

1) They (e2save) make money from the subsidy they receive from Hutchinson 3. And because it's a cashback deal, they know a certain percentage of customers will forget to send in the claim for the cashback at 6 & 12 month's.
2)Just cancel after 12 month's and move on to the next deal.
It's very easy to check how many minutes you have used each month. Just dial 333 from your handset and you'll get an upto date figure for minutes left. Even if you go over the 500 minutes allowance, 3 call rates are very good.0 -
Correct me if I am wrong but is there not a problem with bad reception in some areas with 3?0
-
There is.
You can get round this by getting a factory reset done on the phone.
Then you can switch the phone to GSM, then all "3" calls get carried by o2.0 -
How do you get this done? Do you have to return it to the supplier?
Doesn't the phone divert to o2 anyway, if it's in an area where there is no 3 coverage? With the main problem being if you are travelling out of a 3G area into a 2G area where it will drop calls (as you cross the boundary)? If this is the main problem, it doesn't sound too bad for the mega cheap deals available.0 -
Thanks for your continued input.
It so happens that we are in good reception area for 3. I know that because the phone my son has lost, WAS with 3 and he had no problems.
I will say this though, I am sure when he calls after lunch for this info, I bet he say's he would much rather PAY £4.99 per month than payout and collect later. The reason being that he has recently embarked on a teachers training course and his wife is expecting their second child, so really it's a case of monitoring all incoming/outgoing expenses, and the £4.99 would be KNOWN and accounted for.
So, again, if anyone can suggest a supplier who is still doing this promotion, we'd be glad to hear from you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
No one does it for only £4.99!
Maybe the best bet would be to look at Forward Cellulars cashback offers - though they still involve an initial outlay, they pay their cashbacks much quicker than the competition (usually after month 1).
They don't do the 7600 on 3 which has the 500 minutes/100 texts though.0
