Need a balance transfer but credit not too good....

Options
My partner has about £2400 on a Halifax credit card at a rough apr of 19.9% or thereabouts. he is paying about £35 a month in interest alone with a repayment of £100 each month.

What he desperately needs is a 0% balance transfer deal or a low, life of balance transfer but I have no idea where to look, plus I know if we apply for too many, this will affect his rating even more. He did apply at Egg but got turned down.

We sent off for his credit file and the only thing on it is a default for a loan the Halifax gave him which has now been sent off to the debt collectors who he pays £70 a month to.

He only defaulted once but they wouldn't listen to him (no surprise) and they gave it to the debt collectors who hassle him all the time when they see he has "so called" spare funds in his account.

Any ideas would be gratefully received,
Thanks.

I'm in the same boat! £2,700 on Halifax C/c at the same rate!
I pay £60 a month but soon (May) will be able to up that to £200 - £300 a month off it.
I applied for a Lloyds TSB Life of Balance 5.6% approx.apr, I was refused!
How come all these people are allowed to get so much in debt, yet we can't even get a 0% apr card?

Apply for a card in your name?
Go for a life of balance if you can as these will give you the breathing space while paying off other debts.
Have a read of Martins articles on credit cards to fully understand what you want from a credit card and how it applies to your situation before doing anything else.
