Watchman Oil Sensor

Hi there hoping someone out there can offer some advice.
We have a watchman oil sensor which is plugged into an electricy point within the house and has worked without any problems for over a year.
It was switched off for a day then when switched back on yesterday it just flicks through all of the numbers.
The tank is at least half full and it should be sitting at either 5 or 6. There is nothing that appears to have been moved from the sensor on the tank anyone got any ideas??

Also, when switched off, the internal unit resets and searches for a signal from the tank unit. If the battery is low, the internal unit may not find the signal.
Try switching off again, but only for 1o seconds or so and switch on and see if it goes through re-start routine and finds a signal.
Good luck,

They only pick up a signal a couple of times a day, if you switch them back on in between times you'll just get gobbledeygook.
Hope it's okOnly dead fish go with the flow...0 -
Hello, you can dowwnload the manual for the oil watchman here: http://www.commercialfuelsolutions.co.uk/equipment/level_gauge/oil_watchman.html
I think what Moonbeam said is right... you may need to leave it a little while to reconfigure...0 -
When switched on it displays it's unique serial number. This is used to ensure your reciever doesn't report the level in your neighbours tank if they also have one.
The transmitter on the tank only sends the level infomation periodically so it may take quite awhile before the reciever unit displays the level. If it's not doing so within a couple of hours there might be a problem with the battery in the transmitter on the tank.0 -
I've always resisted the marketing hype around these things and stuck with a sight guage. Now I know why!
It's not so hard to pop out and take a look every so often.0 -

This does not work if the sight gauge is old and dirty and you can not see where the oil level is - even if oil is actually in the tube!
I asked our oil service engineer to change the tube, but it is intergral with the main valve unit.
As the tank was being move to a new OFTEC approved base, I had a flow volume metre fitted (Aquametro VZ04), so we can see exactly the amount of oil used. In conjunction with the Watchman we now know how much oil we have left (+/- a few litres).
The transmitter failed on our old watchman - 'phoned Kingspan in NI and they sent a newer version - free!
