I was looking at buying abroad a couple of years ago and I think Halifax and Abbey would lend abroad, but I think I would have had to use branches in the country I was buying in, which was Spain in my case.
Has he been to Budapest and seen if there are any familiar names on the high street?0 -

Out of interest, as you're looking at all options, how much have prices reduced by in that area, and what's the outlook? Also, the website says 40% sold. The build is to the 5th floor and prices ok and holding up. As for lenders I am with citibank will check them out. Will also enquire with my Budapest solicitorIt pays to challenge0 -

Not sure what the issue is then. If my offspring started buying properties abroad they had no intention of living in while still at university, with no idea how they would pay for them, then I would probably leave them to make their own mistakes. Maybe it's just me.No intention not to buy that's not the issueBeen away for a while.0
