I Cant Get The Insurance Qoute Down...

Hi, I was wondering if someone can advice me or help me with this.
I followed some of the recommendations on here but with no vail.

I am trying to renew my car insurance or get a new policy
I am currently being quoted between £800-900 on average.

I drive Golf GTi and for the last 4 years I been paying expensive
insurance policy, I want to get the premium down to about £500
or less and I have now 5 years NCP. I want to protect NCP,
I am over 25 so the price should come down.

I am paying almost same as what I've paid last year. which was £900.

I just cant get anywhere near 700. Some comparison websites
quote cheaper but when calling up the premium goes up. So
thats a bummber!

Any help? My insurance due date is on the 4th and I need to sort this out
SAP.

Try an Insurance agent, such as Swinton.
  • If the price is not coming down with your age and ncd, I presume there is something you are not telling us.

Do you have any motoring convictions? How many in the last 5 years and what codes and points?

Do you live in an area with a high accident/theft rate?

Do you travel over 15k miles per year?

Are you using the car as a taxi?

There has to be some reason why the premium is up near a grand.
In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.

Hi, yes I've tried Swinton, they quoted me over £1100.

    Way too expensive.

    Any other suggestion?

I have one in 2007, fixed penalty. I think the code is CU80 (Using hand held device while driving). That is the only one in the last
5 years and my first one ever.

The area I think must be black listed, But crime rate is very low. You could be right
about the area. Again how do I find that out if the insurance premium is due to the
    area?

I do about 8K or less in a year. Just back and fourth from one place of work. And bit of social miles.
Are you using the car as a taxi?
    No.

There must be a reason, but what? Its ridiculous amount.
Anything I can check to see what is actually effecting the insurance premium?

It sounds like its a combination of the car group and your post code

Are your parents named drives on your policy? If not try adding them.

If they have a clean driving record they will be considered very low risk and adding them as named drivers will lower the premium.

If you are consistently getting high premiums year on year then an advanced driving course may end up paying for itself in the long run.

Well, My old man passed away 11 years ago.
My mother never had any driving lessons in her life.
So to use parents in this situation is not in my favour.

Its frustrating that I am still paying almost the same insurance premium year after year
and nothing is changing for me despite having 5 years NCP?

    What other available options?

Adding your parents to reduce your premium does not work very often and if it does work its normally only on young drivers.

If you have a wife / common law partner or girlfriend who drives this will often reduce your premium by between 10% and 15% so its worth trying this.

The reason your premium does not go down every year is once you reach maximum no claims bonus it does not really reduce any further. When this happens your premium tends to reduce as your car gets older and as you reach another age rating band.

Well I managed to get cover for £735 by mymotorquote.com
with NPC protected, Courtesy Car, Windscreen Cover, Legal Cover.

But the excess is very high (£500).

I was expecting my premium to come down this year
    but instead it shoot up.

Anyone taken any policy with mymotorqoute.com? and what they like?
But the under writer is HSBC.

You can find out by doing virtual quotes on line and changing your "address" to see if the premiums change much.
