I hope someone can help me?
I am wanting to read my meter (electric) and submit online. On the electric meter there are 2 numbers, but only labelled as 1&2.
Online it asks for the normal/day and the night/low. Which is which????
Number 1 is 05643 and number 2 is 19322.
So confused, hope someone can advise and no advice on BG website on reading meters!!
Cheers.

Top reading is day/normal
One under night/low
just ignore the last red number on each reading0 -
Hi, neither are top or bottom. It flashes the 2 numbers and labels them as 1&2???
Any ideas??
Thanks0 -
Economy 7 Flashing type ...
rate 1 is night/low
rate 2 is day/normal0 -
Um, whichever one that's moving now is daytime?0

I never knew we were on Economy 7!!!
Thanks for your advice!
It's not easy to see which is moving now when it's flashing all the time BTW :-)

What I meant was, the daytime meter will go up - so if you read it first thing, by now the reading would be higher, whereas the night time one should read the same as it did when you got up.
Check whether you should be on E7 - if you use less than 25% of your electricity at night, you'd be better off on a single rate tariff. 25% -60% used at night, do the sums. Over 60% (you probably have storage heaters), stick with E7.
Or calculate annual kwh and put them into a comparison site - check best E7 and non E7 tariffs (just add the totals together and say you don't have E7) to see which would be cheapest.0 -

WRONG - Rate 1 is normal/day : Rate 2 is low/night.
If in doubt the rate shown at the time will be the default rate, and the 1 or 2 will be flashing. Most digital meters have a 3rd read, a T will appear to the left of the read, this is the TOTAL of the day and night reads...do not give this read if you have a two-rate bill. The first 5 digits from left to right is your read, ignore any others.Top reading is day/normal

WRONG - every old style meter I've seen has the low rate at the top and the Normal rate below. Yours may well be different, most meters are clearly marked as to which is which.0 -
Ours is not clearly marked and now I'm very confused!
Does anyone know of a website that might be able to help out with diagrams or something?0 -
Rate 1 is night for me, rate 2 is daytime.
Looking at your readings, the lower one is probably your night reading. Mine is.Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'
