q) scottish power paying quarterly for electric
hi, im with n power now for electric, and rang scottish power to switch to them to save money.
i rang over 2 weeks ago now and they said they would send me the forms in the post to start the application for me.
i havent received a thing so far, i also rang earlier this week to tell them this and they said they would send them again.
has anyone else had any trouble getting the forms from them timewise?
im part wondering if i will get them at all, as i know they are more bothered about customers paying by dd and wondered if they even wanted me as a customer as i want to pay quarterly. but i prefer to pay on receipt of bill.
cheers

Why don't you want the £36 cashback available through applying online? It's also a lot quicker than waiting for application forms.0

Via a cashback site such as topcashback.co.uk or quidco.com0

thanks again its appreciated,
ive checked the links out and it appears you can only sign up online by doing a direct debit.
i may consider it, but i prefer quarterly payments.
a couple of weeks ago i transferred my gas to ebico, i might even move the electric there now online as its still cheaper than npower who im with now.0 -
scottish power are only taking dd customers0

I think it's a good time to start a DD plan as you have time to build up a credit balance for the winter. If you have accuarate annual kwh figures, you should be able to calculate an accurate DD payment, so long as you keep tracking use and price changes.0 -

your probably right here, do i go for a scottish power online tariff where i enter the meter reads myself? or a standard tariff where i get billed by them?(both direct debit)
is it easy to manage a scotish power account online? who sets the initial direct debit amount? i use around 2300kwh of electric and i think the dd amount is around £22 per month for this amount.
looked at scottish power website but i cant see an online account management info page.
thanks again. :T0 -
I've been with SP for about six months now, although I'm about to switch for electricity. In my experience, the online account management is excellent - better than the others I've tried (eon and npower).
I enter my readings on the first of the month and within a day a bill is generated. For my duel fuel, I should pay about £135 a month but when I switched, I had a credit balance with eon and SP set my DD at £150 which has been about right for winter. I'll be looking to reduce to about £130 a month from April for both because I can give annual kwh figures to justify it.
My last supplier, eon, wanted to set my DD at about £75 which wouldn't have been enough and so I asked for it to be £130 which they did. Before that npower wanted to set a DD higher than I thought fair, but they put it down when I gave them annual figure. I think most suppliers are reasonable about this.
I like online accounts - you get an extra discount and you have a record of payments and bills at hand.0
