Brown Promises Banking Clear Up

Brown is a nasty piece of work, according to the Westminster gossip. He said "no more boom and bust". But he cannot say sorry. For anything. He is happy to organise a rabble rousing witch hunt of a man who is getting a big pension. He said "British jobs for British workers", and then said "no protectionism" at whatever bean feast he's currently at.
I never thought I could hate a politican as much as Tony Blair, but Brown is proving me wrong.
And for the umpteenth time. I'm not a Tory, Labour or Liberal. Or BNP.
edit: Oh and ten p tax. Can't even get it right for the poorest in society.0 -
Good, 4 posts so far in response and noone seems to grasp the concept that Brown is in charge until at least next June. Shouting "Election now" won't overturn UK electoral law or the 60 seat majority. Nor does pretending the rest of the world doesn't exist change the fact that an international solution is needed for what patently is an international problem.0

To be fair my post wasn't in response to yours. Not really. I just saw the word Brown and went off into a rant.Rochdale_Pioneers wrote: »Good, 4 posts so far in response and noone seems to grasp the concept that Brown is in charge until at least next June.0 -

Shouting election now is an opinion, which people are perfectly entitled to. He is not necesarily in charge until at least next June at all. So I don't think were failing to grasp anything in the slightest.
As for the international solution. Yes, one is needed. It's unfortunate that while the french laugh at us over our VAT reductons, Obama protects his own, and the Germans won't touch our currency with a bargepole, the IMF relates us to Iceland and a few other obscure countries, Brown carries on pretending he's the leader of the world.
Also, its unfortunate that while this PM looks in the mirror and see's superman looking back at him, he forgets who he's actually in seat to serve. The UK.0 -

For a nation to move forward it takes those who have "wronged" to admit there mistakes and short comings....... Think its called "peace and reconciliation" in other parts of the world.
Its normal and proper for people to admit failings, its what makes us human, I agree it doesn't cure the problem but Brown just stinks of "its not my fault".
It has been known that even American presidents say sorry, but I guess they are bigger than that,or is it lower??...
Im still accepting donations to buy a sniper rifle..:D0 -
Wish I could thank that twice Graham:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Not the usual treatment for a visiting head of state. So Brown is in play to work on the global restructure of capitalism that is to play out this summer. Whatever you think of him, you all want him to deliver (unless you truly want the economy here to crash....?), so as the OP raised the question, what do you want this to look like?
Let me guess, Crash is going to save the world?
Good thing because he's going to bankrupt Britain trying...0 -
Some good stuff written by many, and bashing Brown for the sake of it Rochdale is not going to get the UK out of it,granted. However, your whole post appears based on the premise he has evauated the crisis and knows the solutions. Picking up on Sapphire's posts many simply don't agree. Her analysis was spot on.
"Brown's view has not in fact changed – he still wants to encourage individuals to borrow and spend, and to take huge risks at a time when jobs are being lost all over the place."
From what he says (and that's all we have to go on) where do you see any evidence of him wanting to change from a consumption led, greed orientated disaster economy to anything radically different?
Where are the quickly adopted policies for helping nurture manufacturing and encourage saving so we have any hope of coming out lean and restructured? Many imaginative and well focused policies could be quickly introduced by someone who is sincere about what they are saying and knows what needs to be done. We have seen nothing but reward for greed and failure even after the house started to come down.0 -
presumably brown thought that the 120% mortgages were responsible lending at the time , as he did nothing to stop them or even question the wisdom of such things0
