If he was working then a post office account is not an option as salaries can not be paid into this.
If he was then yes for me to say he had no choice was incorrect.
I have already stated that I learnt about Post office account after post 13
and therefore posted it in 18 so what exactly is your point.
I was just making it clear to other members that the PO is an option and to clarify for them that if on benefits then there is an option therefore there is a choice.0 -
Does anyone have any advice, sent in my letter to the bank with details of what they had over charged me, got a phone call this morning telling me that I would be getting a letter from them to list my expenditure on??? and that I have a meeting with them next week anyone any ideas on what this is about?
If they want your budget they may be assessing whether you qualify under the hardship rule, if your claiming charges back. I've done this twice over the last year and they always want a budget and proof of income, it saved having to go to court though as they processed it pretty quickly, unfortunatly you dont tend to get interest if it doesn't go to court.0 -

Thankyou for that clarification
Pity there isnt a blanket option to enable everybody to do away with banks and their loan shark practices;)
If there was they would behave themselves.0 -
Those on benefits won't be eligible for overdrafts in my experience.
In addition.
If something costs £300 and you only have £299.
Where do you expect that £1 to come from? (the bank aren't going to give it you).
The DD will be returned UNPAID and bank charges will be incurred.
(if you can't get an overdraft - put £100 in a savings account which you can manage online - and should this EVER happen again - transfer the funds into your current account - so that you can clear the balance before midnight).:idea:0 -

I would think the main problem with say everyone going to the post office is that the queues are bad enough as it is without tham being 10x longer. I go to the post office very rarely and when I do often wait 30-45 mins to get served.0 -
I remember that i was 2p overdrawn with lloyds and it was there fault as they took money from me before it was due out and they charged me at the time it was £15 then i was getting £5 a day charges when i took this to them they said it was not there fault and i should have had the money in the account for the date it was due to come out, even though nothing was due out my account until the monday they took the money on the friday and as it was after the banks had closed for the weekend i couldn't pay the 2p in. I eventually got naffed off with the way thy treated me i phoned them up and spoke to someone that was polite and even got all the charges on the account taken off and refunded to me, there is the telephone banking number you can call free but only if you have tele banking which is 0800 015 2000 and once you have been through all the stuff on it speak to an advisor and ask them to put you through to the department that you need0

Doesn't surprise me. Halifax charged me £35 for a 1p debit taken as an identity check.0 -
Thanks for that Rhig went to the bank yesterday, and it was to see if I could claim under financial hardship0
