American Express

Options
I have a brilliant credit file. Experien have me down as 930 points, and Eqifax have me as 489 points. I earn over 23K per year. I have been with the same employer for 8 years. Yet Ameriacan express refused my appliction for a Platinum card.

I got my bank manager to write me a letter of support and appealed thier decision. Sending along a full copy of my reports, plus current bank and credit card statements.

They still said no.

So, my question is, why do you recon I was knocked back?

I have never ever had arrears on any accounts. I already have a Lloyds TSB Platinum card and a Platinum current account, with a Lloyds TSB internal credit rating of 3 on thier system. 10 is the worset you can get.

All utilty bills are paid, I own my car, so nothing outstanding there.

I realy am cheesed off about this.

Can anyone give me a clue as to why this has happened.?

Do you have other credit cards, loans etc? How much do they total up to?

  • I may as well tell you about my experience with AMEX. Firstly, you have to have a PERFECT credit history, don't try otherwise. Try first with a blue then work up!.LOL
  • Perhaps you don't earn enough? just a thought.
have a good read through the American Express discussion area you may find more helpful stuff there that you can act on.

It is perfect, they admitted that.

The credit file shows the last 6 years, not one missed or late payment.
