Here is my solemn pronouncement on that particular show:

Perhaps a waste of disc space then???

It's OK to have on in the background while doing something useful, but I wouldn't sacrifice an hour of valuable life to sit down and watch it. To be honest, I didn't even notice if they had sold the properties at the end or not. Someone should keep a tally of successes, and compare with Kristian Digby's programme where they ended most shows with no offers at all.

I'll stick to Wanted Down Under and Place in the Sun from the USA. Interesting to see the houses in those two countries. Usually big but seem devoid of character but the USA ones are in the lead by my reckoning so far.

You definitely get more house for your money in the USA.

Homes Under the Hammer is my favourite. Although many disapprove of the whole BTL property developer culture, it is always nice to see a total wreck brought back into use.

I have recorded it. Did you see it? Is it a knock all EA's type of show?

They did mention price a couple of times and tings like conservatorys might cost 15k ut doesn't increase the value anywhere near that. Which is good.

And spent £8 on paint. Rather than the old style House Doctor where they would spend a fortune.

Invest in storage company shares... if this program is successful they'll be very busy.

Overall though pretty wishywashy and not very meaty but worth watching to see the house reduced from 490 to 350 :)

I saw one really silly show that spend £2500 on the master bedroom decor, carpets and such. The 'before and after' EA said it had put £10,000 on the value. I find that hard if not impossible to swallow.

I can't resist a reply to this one (nothing to do with why I registered here and sorry for this being my first post).

We're goig through the agony of selling our house, only agony because we had a buyer who did as one poster above described and offered the best price so that we would accept the offer, had a survey done that listed faults that couldn't be there (e.g. a non-existent gas fire in the lounge might not comply with current regulations - urgent repair or replacement recommended). So he comes back and wants £12k off in order to save his stamp duty also and sadly missed us the chance of selling to the next person, who he only outbid by £1000. Anyway...

In my limited experience, our agents wouldn't be doing their job properly if our house didn't appear in front of potential buyers.

I have a solution for Wig though, having read elsewhere about a consultation service offered to buyers, whereby the third party will step in and do all the filtering for you, visit agents, sift and trawl the websites and then present a personalised list that matches exactly the buyer's requirements across the whole market. Any single agent can't do this really as it only works if exactly the same approach, metrics and thresholds are used by all. That service can also include valuation, negotiation by a professional and the buyer almost may never need to make contact with the agent in person.
