  • Well looking through my bank statements for March I spent anything between £580 and £650 not including lunches for my hubby and I! My budget for April is £280.
  • 24 hours to go, and I have about £28 left over, which is going to be spent tomorrow night stocking up. I have foolishly decided to halve my grocery budget next month to see how well I can 'make do', so going to cheat and buy in tins/pasta etc tomorrow, on March's budget ;)

Hi, That's the thing I have to be careful off, kids treats as I have 4. It's difficult when kids expect it. I give them small treat coming out of school,i.e. a lollipop. Then when in town (which I try and avoid with kids), its a case of negotiation, so they may get a small treat on the way back till they get home for lunch. Have you tried shopping for bulk online? I would try avoid town where poss. and take DD to park or beach with picnic. Also HM treats are a good idea. HTH's
Thanx Cornish , yeah will bulk buy things for her to eat whilst out shopping for her to eat , maybe a big bag of haribos or something with loads of packets in.
I ve only been on this for a few weeks and am not impressed with myself as to how much i have already spent. So am going to try alot harder towards my april figure which i will start tommorrow. Ikeep looking at the recipe guides and did my first cheap one off there tonight , and dd ate all of it !!! which makes a huge change for her , so going to bulk buy shopping tomoz and cook loads for the freezer this week, too save me going the chippy etc again this week.

Declaring March at £446.23. INcludes an ocado delivery today - so 99% of that will be used next month :D. AM off to Sainsbury this afternoon, as I have a load of coupons to use there which run out today - however, I will take that shop from April's budget of £450, as I will not be using any of it today.

    Afternoon everyone!

PLEASE CAN I DECLARE AT £120.90P FOR MARCH PLEASE MRS McC

CAN YOU ALSO OUT ME DOWN FOR £113 FOR APRIL PLEASE. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK.

I am really pleased with my total for March because it's so much better than February's. Hope I can keep on track in April. My overspends were due to a horrendously expensive 2ltr bottle of milk which I had no choice but to buy and a much better purchase of 18 free range eggs bought for £2.25. I stilll have alot of the milk and most of the eggs, so have knocked down April's budget by the overspent amount.

Will definately start shopping properly again tonight for next month, so hoping for some bargains as the cupboards are pretty bare.

    Good luck everyone for April

Finished shopping for the month - won't get out for final Whoopsies tonight, as elder DS is treating me (and younger DS and DD) to a meal out as a belated Mothers Day present.

March total spend is £178.76, so well over what I'd declared as my target for this month and £9.80 over where I should be for this point of the year

Signature looked like below before re-setting for April......

    Food Budget /
Spent / Whoopsie spend / Whoopsie 'real' value
    to 28/02/09 £256.80 / £246.94 / £46.24 / £137.32 Mar : £168.96 / £178.76 / £90.85 / £309.00 as of 31st

  • I haven't kept up with the thread for the last couple of weeks and have fallen off the wagon although my freezer is fit to burst with HM ready meals ready for when baby is born in 4 weeks or so. I've done a couple of little trips to MrM's and spent £50 ish in costco on meat which I've portioned up and frozen ready for quick pasta bakes and stir fries.

I'm declaring at £280.76 for March and setting April's budget for £250 again. I'm hoping things will settle down now I have a full freezer.

Well done everyone who managed to stay under, I'm looking forward to April's budget already :D
