As an example Toyota Avensis VVTi engines had a oil burning problem when the mileage reached about 40,000 ! Toyota paid for the engine rebuilds providing you had a full dealer service history even after the 3 year warranty had run out !! there were a lot of relieved Toyota customers out there
You are welcome to your opinion but its just the way I see it !! your spending £10,000 plus on a car its quite a big investment0 -
They need to be careful they are not breaking the law - if that is their stipulation........... Block Exemption Act etc.. Be good to hearing from an Avensis owner that was refused - and if they sued Toyota.jack_spratt wrote: »As an example Toyota Avensis VVTi engines had a oil burning problem when the mileage reached about 40,000 ! As long as a vehicle is service by VAT reg garage, genuine parts used and serviced in accordance with manufacturer - then you can go anywhere whilst vehicle is under warranty. If a dealership refuses warranty work or tells you different - they are breaking the law.Genie

Totally agree with your comments !! this is not a knock at independents most of the time they do as good a job if not better than main dealers .As long as a vehicle is service by VAT reg garage, genuine parts used and serviced in accordance with manufacturer - then you can go anywhere whilst vehicle is under warranty. If a dealership refuses warranty work or tells you different - they are breaking the law.
I think Toyota would have done the repairs but you would probably have had to prove that it had been serviced exactly to the manufacturers specification using the exact oils and with the correct service procedures at the correct mileage and if there was any discrepancy it could provide them with an excuse not to do it
But if it was me buying a second hand car I would prefer a main dealer service history rather than a independent .
Just my thoughts they may be right or they may be wrong0
