Working women almost certainly caused the credit crunch

I've never understood why woman want to work. Most of us would love to be at home instead!
Seems woman want their cake and to eat it these days. They (generally) don't seem as keen on being "equal" when it comes to washing cars, taking rubbish out, going in lofts, clearing drains and gutters, mowing grass, chopping wood etc etc.
Men and Woman are biologically different. That's not too say one or other is better, or worse, just different.0 -
There is an element of truth in what he is saying (although I disagree about the demeaning jobs etc), I have long said that in my parents day, the mother was not expected to work but to stay at home and bring up the children, they had no pressure to go out to work. Now, mothers are constantly being asked when they are returning to work and you are seen as a lesser person if you decide to take time out when your children are young to concentrate on them...the pressure to work is extremely high.
I went back through choice, I didn't have to as hubbies earnings were sufficient but I needed to for my own sanity....and then found that you then got another sector of society not very happy about woman returning to work.
It's almost lose lose for a mum, you go to work and you are a bad mother, you don't go to work and you are not a productive member of society.
Amcluesent - I didn't get nappy brain although I believe my husband (now ex) suffered from it from birth
So because the expectation for a woman to work is there, everyone's ideal of what should be earnt and what can be afforded jointly, has increased....mind you, woe betide anyone who suggests that woman shouldn't work, I would not be impressed! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

At home doing what? I would have nothing to do aside from sit on here all day long, month in month out, really at home I hae nothing to do, the house is tidy, the dog is walkedwhat now?
This sort of idea means that you could potentially have 50% off the adult population simply doing nothing at home- seems like a way to strip the rights and responsibilities of over 50% of the population? Regression aint the word...! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I don;t WANT to work, but I feel I have to (only p/t mind!) in order to ensure that we have an average standard of living without resorting to credit. I get my hair done once a year, I spend next to nothing on clothes, my kids wear mainly 2nd hand clothes, I have a small car, small house and we don;t go out. With this 'credit crunch'/ recession I feel I ought to be putting money aside and holding on to the few hours I have just in case something happened to my OH's job.
Nobody really wants to work surely, whether they are male or female.
One plus side is for 2 days a week I don;t feel like calling social services :rolleyes:sealed pot challange #572!Garden fund - £0!!:D£0/£10k0 -
I bet 90% of people who work would love to rely on someone else to support them, I was a working mum by necessity as my ex walked away from his responsibilities. I found I was pretty good at it so I stuck at it, I think the idiot who wrote that article would be appalled that I work in a job that is mainly done by men. If the government want to pay me 30k a year to stay home I would take the paycut and do it tomorrow.0

We've always lived on one wage. If we've needed more money then my DH has had to go in and ask for pay rises or look for promotion or we've just cut back. Its not always been easy but I do get tired of everyone telling me that they 'need' two wages for their household. We've managed and there are 6 of us! You just choose differently...0

I think this is a really daft statement!
I love my work, but even if I didn't I would much rather be gainfully employed doing something than twiddling my fingers at home (and I've had some pretty rubbish jobs in the past, believe me - they were still better than having no work at all)!
I think most people WANT to work - including the women.....0 -

I agree with Mambury actually, although I love my job I know that if I could manage without working I would, anyone want to adopt me and set up a trust fund?0

No way! Most people would love to able to not work, assuming they're financially secure. Work is a necessary evil as far as I'm concerned and I have a very good, relatively enjoyable job.
Work is the act of giving up your time in order to afford to live. Why would you do that if you had a choice?
I think the people that would have nothing to do without work are mad or maybe have dysfunctional relationships/lives they feel the need to escape from. There's 1000's of things I could do with my time if I didn't have to work.0
