haven't got much time to post , but work going OK (can't say the embarrassment has gone and probably won't for a bit) but I'm here and have faced the problem...

for all those with school choices, fingers crossed...please don't give up hope though if you don't get the place you want...I went to my dreadful local school (teenage pregnancies/drug problems etc)...I'm lucky, I had a great home life, and parents who have always taught me right from wrong..it may not have been a great school but my parents encouraged me academically (without ever having to push me)...anyway I ended up getting all A's in my A levels and studying at Cambridge (what I'm trying to say is it can be done even from not your first choice school)...was first person from my school ever to go there...(I must be so easy to identify by anyone that knows me) so please don't be upset if you don't get the choice you want...I really believe support at home goes a long way...

I am soooooooooooo fuming and bouncing, and really dissapointed in my kids school.

We had a letter from the Education welfare officer re ds and his attendence. He is asthmatic, so has lost a little bit of time I know, but only when he was ill, not just because I wanted him home. And his sister would still go to school even with him home..... apparently he has had too many medical absences...

It turns out that all his 1/2 days for speech therepy count as medical absences, plus when the school closed for 6 days because of the snow, that added 3.5% to every childs attendance rate and has triggered quite a few referrals...

In the letter the EWO wanted a sick note for a 4 3/4 yr old on his first day of absence, I could just imagine what our Drs would have said. Luckily I have spoken to her now and the school, and they agree that is not possible.

    ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....................
