Virgin ..AGAIN

Really getting to the end of my tether with Virgin broadband, once again I have had only patchy connections for the past 4 days and probably won't even be able to post this before it dies again. Is anyone else having problems as their status on their telephone system is saying everything is OK. However they always say that even when the entire ISP is down through a hacking attack!

I'm on ADSL and all that happens is that the adsl light on the router just goes out and stays out, then comes back again a few minutes/hours later. I've replaced all my equipment once and it made no difference.
Occassionally I can get Virgin to admit it is a local issue, but usually they stick to the party line that my equipment is faulty. Today it is running fine and it will probably be fine for a week or so before it all collapses again.
I forgot to say, I don't download much at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm on virgin with cable (old ntl) and I have virtually no down time at all (have I just jinxed myself?).Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0

Problems here too. Ever since they did their 'super fast' trickery on the 25th it has gone all to !!!!. Constantly get error 721. Then I can't connect and it also freezes or goes dead after a while.
Never had a problem in three years and haven't changed a thing on the p.c. Their customer status pages shows 'intermittent problems' since 19-02-09.
Tripe.
I use ADSL with a Thompson modem 330 and am in the North West.

My connection has been down all weekend. Last successful connection was Friday night (27th). Since then I just get the flashing amber light as the router (Netgear DG834G) tries to reconnect. It was still down as of 8am this morning.
I have had more frequent disconnections/general issues since the "upgrade" on 14th January. Prior to that I have been with Virgin for 3 1/2 years and never really had more than an hours downtime. I guess this is progress *cough* ahem yeeessss!
I saw this post in amongst a thread:
http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/showthreaded.php?Board=virgin_adsl&Number=3584232
which prompted me to check for newer firmware for my router and sure enough the latest version says:
> The ADSL driver has been updated to improve ADSL2+ interoperability.
As I now get a 10Mbps connection I guess I must now be on ADSL2+. Still, I don't know why things would stop working some 6 weeks after the upgrade.0 -
In some ways i ma pleased it is not just me!
I had no service at all from about 5pm yesterday so eventually decided to sit on the phone and wait it out, took me almost 45 minutes to get hold of someone and after the usual 'your equipment is faulty' they agreed that the pattern of outages suggests something more fundemental. I was told that the engineer department would call me back early today..but I'm still waiting.
It has been on and off this morning with lights flashing everywhere.
Mine has definitely got worse since the upgrade as well even though my speeds are still poor.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
