BT Credit check

I have just ordered bt broadband and they said that they do crdit checks. I have a bad credit file going back a couple of yrs. Do they ever turn any one down?

I don't think they can/do turn you down, but I think they are able to ask for a deposit, which is credited back to you after a period (of which i'm not sure) of good payment histories. BT are subject to a universal service obligation which says they have to provide phone service to every home and business wanting it - effectively to prevent them from refusing service to customers who, for example, may necessitate substantial amounts of work done on infrastructure before they can get a service etc.

Thank you peregrin, UKNorthEast and syko29793 you have put my mind at rest.
When I said my credit report was bad it is like yours UKNorthEast shot to pieces on account of having to give up work to be a full time carer.

When I signed up in 2004, my credit rating was also very poor and it seemed no problem. The lady on the phone took my details, asked if I wanted to pay by Direct Debit (I said no - no problem again) and then scheduled an appointment for an engineer. It was all done in 5 minutes Simple!
