    Is a great city.

The central square is perfect on a warm spring day, just people watch and drink beer or coffee.

I dont think its as good as Prague. The castle is no up to much and no Opera. But it is much cheaper than Prague.

But it does have 2 football teams and its about £3 to get it, and its one of the most passionate places to watch a game.

If you go look out for Krakow city bike tours. Highlight of my trip. £15 for half day, inc the bike. Fantastic guide. You will see lots of interesting places and snippets of info that you wont find in the guide books. Like the sign for poo street, not poo but the ruder version of poo. A great half day.

    Definately my favourite polish city.

Has anyone been there in the summer? Would it be warm there then, without being too busy, or am I asking for a bit much?!
Its very warm in summer high 20s, but I dont think it gets over busy.

It does. Krakow is tourist hell during the summer, and is easily the most unpleasant Polish city at that time.

I'd recommend Wroclaw over Krakow anyday. And stay away from Katowice.

We stayed at the Hotel Chopin a couple of weeks ago. It was about a 15 min walk or a tram ride away to the centre (although the cab back one day was only 13 zlotys)

It had just been refurbished and the rooms were really nice and the staff very pleasant.

I'd like to go to Kracow for a few days in August - how much to the taxi drivers charge for airport transfers? Is it far from the airport to the town?

Why bother, when you can take the train?
