Facebook - I just don't get it...

I have to disagree with the OP, I find facebook one of the best "free" web applications that I have ever used, I have found old school mates from the other side of the country and had a few good conversations on there too.
If the application does not have any use to you then you can simply choose not to use it.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
Kinda hard to do that when they wont let you close your account.0

I only use it to get in contact with old friends and have a browse at photos. I dont get involved in all the gaming and other rubbish.0

I used to be addicted to the FB collecting games, I was determind to get on the global leader board...which I did. It was my 13 year old daughter that made me see sense...she said "Mum!, for goodness sake, you need to do some laundry my PE kit needs washing, get of that stupid Laptop and get a life!".....of course that went down very well...!Week one (4th March) - 4 pounds lostTarget - under 9 stone by July 17th 2009Wednesday is weigh in day0

I like it for sharing photos, and keeping in touch with family (we're not too great at ringing each other and everyone works wacky hours)
Good to see which of your exes got fat too
My TV is broken!

Well, we can't all like everything which is why the world is so much interesting.

1st hit from google brought up thisKinda hard to do that when they wont let you close your account.
....or just deactivate the account...
...or delete all personal info, set fb to never email you, set your spam filter to delete fb emails just in case any arrive and ignore it
edit - click here to delete facebook account

Yep they make it easy as hell, a "Delete Account" button would be better, having to create a new account to get rid off an old one is pretty poor.0

I'm with you on this one. I like forums, such as this, where I can get help and advice and perhaps be of use to someone else, but the entire social networking thing seems dull to me.I'm on facebook but I just can't find a practical use for it.
I did track down some old college mates but that's about the height of it.
I do find it rather pointless. Anybody else similiarly minded?
And don't even mention the even more inane twitter.
Foxy Bingo, anyone? I don't get that, either.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.
