Weight is far from the most important thing, something that some guy knew about over 2 thousand years ago...

I'm sure that the jeweller in question might have considered disappearing into the back, retrieving a tank of water and educating me on the characteristics of displacement, or maybe that may account for the glasses of water on the counter top? Hmm now there's a thought...

I didn't care however, I just wanted the shiny gold things and to be on my way. Perhaps it might assist the OP however, though I suspect she would need to know the weight\density\displacement of a similar ring.
It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

Stop fighting, children! In the UK, all items described as 'gold', weighing more than 1gm must be hallmarked, and the hallmark will indicate the purity of the gold.

The really funny thing about all of this is that the original post was made back in February so I guess the issue has been sorted one way or the other.

The OP is certainly not interested in following up on this as she's still posting on other sub boards.

So, maininthestreet - I agree with you here:
    Stop fighting, children!
