Downstairs my mum has:
BT Landline (£15 per month)
Tiscali Broadband (£18 per month)
Upstairs I have:
Virgin Landline (£11 per month)
Virgin XL Broadband (£37 per month)
As you can see between us we pay £81 per month for phone and internet services! We really could do with reducing them with the credit crunch!
However I am unsure which way to go....my mum just likes browsing the internet where I download albums and things in addition to browsing the internet!
Regarding the landline I don't really need one, I only have it so I can have the Virgin Broadband!
Is it best to go wireless using my mums BT and me get rid of the Virgin...or???
Would appreciate any help
Best Regards

Yikes! Well. your biggest saving will be to reduce to one landline and one broadband service, whoever it's with. Are you out of contract on both?
Who you go with depends on what speed you need (do you really need the 20MBps speed you're getting on Virgin XL-are you actually getting that speed?).
If yes, stick with Virgin, negotiate a better phone and bb bundle, share them both and go wireless-you should be able to get a free router out of them at the least.
If no, dump Virgin and switch Tiscali/BT to go wireless on the BT line. Use the samknows site to check what LLU operators are on your exchange, one of these is likely to give you the best deal. If either of you are o2 mobile customers, and they are LLU on your exchange, then you can get a further reduction at present. No free lunch, and no free laptop

My word, I really don't mean any offence OP but that sounds like madness to me! How did you come to have so many services in place?
We have Virgin L broadband with a landline (with free UK calls 24/7) and pay £25 a month. My OH is an online gamer and also downloads things and pretty much we have no problem with the speed or service.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
To be honest....I don't know! I guess we all got a bit carried away! Either way we want to reduce the £81 a month in services....that's £972 a year!Work hard play hard......0

Pick the 'best' broadband deal (ie the service you are happiest with out of the two) and use a WiFi network to share it to everyone.
Seems you have two landlines? Then dump one of them as it's no longer needed. If you have 'proper' virgin cable you don't even need a landline if you choose that as your main service. Get people to call your mobiles if they want to contact you.0 -
Go with o2 on the BT line with free wireless router and £50 cashback via Quidco until the end of this month, so be quick.0
