Has anyone used www.carpet-underlay-shop.co.uk ????

Hello,

I've bought some carpets from CarpetRight, but they wanted an arm and a leg for the underlay, grips and the metal strips between the doors. After doing some googling, I have stumbled on www.carpet-underlay-shop.co.uk, who appear to have everything I need (I was quoted for rubber underlay, but i've been told to go for a cloud 9 product because it will resist flattening longer and is fitter friendly. and better still, at a fraction of the cost that CarpetRight wanted to charge me. I am a bit sceptical about buying from the internet!

Has anyone used them? Are they any good? Some feedback would be great, and I can save some serious money on retailers prices. Thanks.

I know people on here have recommended http://www.tradepriced.co.uk/ for underlay although I've not used them personally.
  • Product prices are virtually the same from both, but-

Be aware of the delivery costs. For smaller quantities - www.carpet-underlay-shop.co.uk are £1 + vat cheaper on delivery, and deliver next day. If you want to see samples before you buy, I am sure they will send some out for you

www.tradepriced.co.uk only have cheaper a delivery than the other site on much larger quantities, but they charge you £1.50 for sending out a sample.

In my opinion, the prices on both of these sites offer great value, in comparison to the multiple retailers. I haven't bought from either, so cannot comment on their service.

I used them to buy underlay for my whole house - was very impressed with their service. I believe that the cheapest place for gripper rods at the moment is in fact B&Q (for large quantities only) - £20 for 150m.

  • After a little flicking to and fro websites, I have ordered some Cloud 9 Cumulus from www.Carpet-underlay-shop.co.uk. The product is slightly cheaper, their delivery costs are cheaper, plus the website looks much more professional than the other one. Ive checked out that they are a real company, and not one of these '1 man band' shops.

    From "TradePriced" 2 rolls of Cloud 9 Cumulus and 3 metal door strips, comes to £107.41 inc deliv & VAT;

"carpet underlay shop" is only £101.43 (including delivery and VAT) for exactly the same goods, saving £5.98!!!! Great stuff!

Sounds good. Let us know if it is delivered on time etc as I'll be needing some in the not too distant future.
  • Hi,

The underlay and door strips arrived yesterday, perfect and as expected! For the price I was expecting the Cloud 9 underlay to be some sort of fake, but looks and feels genuine enough to me (ie: Has 'Cloud 9 The Brand Leader' printed all over both product and bag. Also, the door strips arrived nicely packaged with a protective film to stop them scratching.

Brill correspondence too and sound really friendly. Certainly not a 'one-man-band' company.

Professional advice, great products quick delivery and cheaper than the competition. Would certainly use carpet-underlay-shop again.

Any idea how much you saved over what you might have paid Carpet Right for their stuff ?

Its been a while since I looked but I thought it was about 30% of the price of carpet retailers and at least as good quality.
  • I have used Trade priced for underlay to replace mid priced foam underlay that our carpet shop supplied "free" it appeared a bit lumpy underfoot so we got the 130lb rubber stuff. Loads better.

No issues with Trade priced, stuff arrived as promised.
