I feel conned

I feel conned i wrote to orange last month to cancel my contract to end 20th of Feb, I rang them around the end of last month just to make sure thay had received the letter and thay had. thay then asked me if i wanted to change my number to payg and thay would send me a new sim card but i must register it straight away to cancel my contract.
so i got my new sim on the 1st and registered it.now thay have sent me a bill for the whole of Feb and say thay will refund the last 8 days, but i feel by haveing been told to register straight I lost 20 days of free text and calls.
Any thoughts.

Sounds like you gave notice (correctly), and they have correctly charged you for the notice period.

Did you think they would let you off completing the contract if you changed to a PAYG? We're talking Orange here you know!

Quentin, I think Jonathon is saying that Orange advised him to register the payg sim well before his last contract month expired. He did so and was charged for the month but he was then unable to use the inclusive minutes and texts that he has paid for. I think.

I understood what happened - once you registered the sim, your old one was deactivated (you couldn't have two sims running simultaneously with the same number).

But the contract entitled them to the notice period. The same thing would have happened had you used a PAC. As soon as it completed, your orange sim would have been turned off, but you would still have to pay up your notice period. You just registered the SIM too soon to have the best of both worlds.

Why not try writing to them, saying this has happened, you feel conned and maybe they will put some credit on your PAYG. Worth a try.
