That's just plain bad practice - nothing to do with the fact that you opted for on-line conveyancing.

I agree. We used a conveyancer introduced to us by abodeconveyancing and they were in Manchester, while we lived in London. It was fine and I never wished they were close enough to pop in and see. Everything possible was done by email and anything that needed to be posted was done promptly.
What did I do at work before I discovered MSE?!

  • The fees for ours are £275+VAT - that compares with the solicitor our EA tried their best to hook us up with (even to the point of appointing them on our behalf without our permission) who charge £535+VAT...

I can't remember which conveyancing introduction firm we used, but we ended up using a firm of solictors called Lambert Pugh www.lambertpugh.co.uk .Their costs are £239 + Vat.The service they have been provided has been outstanding. We exchanged yesterday he rang me before he exchanged and minutes afteer.

Last time we moved we used a local firm of solicitors and they were a nightmare and cost more.
  • Had a query regarding my mortgage offer and Case Trace. Solicitor responded to my email within 15 minutes.

Can't fault the service so far, but it's still early days I suppose.

cheapcheapconveyancing connected me to a firm called Beaumont Legal, who are registered with the law society...
    http://www.lawsociety.org.uk/choosingandusing/findasolicitor/view=lawfirmdetails.law?orgid=50133&searchType=L

they seem very friendly so we'll see... Am deciding whether to go with them...

I got a quote from abode, accepted it and received my papers from Beaumont Legal. To test them out, I emailed with my ref no. asking a question. 24 hrs passed without reply, so I phoned the "direct dial" no. - no answer! (Fri @ 2pm). I then phoned the switchboard no. - again, no answer! I called abode and complained and they told me they would contact me with another firm's details - I'm still waiting...

Think I'll try somewhere else on Monday - can anyone recommend a solicitor in/near Canterbury, Kent?

    Cheeeeeeeeeeeers

I looked into online then went for local in the end. I suppose it's just like people have said already it depends on how quickly you want things to go. I like being able to drop things in as soon as I get them and I know it'll be a face to face meeting to go through everything about our purchase (sale's completed without any probs)
