Ok, well update on GP - I have phoned them and explained to receptionist what the problem was, she said she wasnt sure if it warranted an emergency appt but would let Dr know and he would phone back (thats how the emergency appts work at my surgery) So he calls 15 mins later and I explain the situation and he asks if she is in pain now or in general or if its just when she is trying to use her leg - I explained that as she cannot tell me I am unsure she is in pain constantly but she def is when trying to use her leg but otherwise she seems well enough to get about on her hands and knees but that I was worried that the fracture hasnt healed and as she is still wincing in pain everytime she tried to use it and that I wanted her seen asap as I didnt want her going round with a still broken leg that could get worse! His answer - As she is not in any obvious pain in general and its not urgent that she is seen today then I could wait until her appt monday and get her checked then. So I asked if it could get worse before then and he said not if she doesnt thrash around on it or do anything to strenuos! Not quite the response I was hoping for!!! So I guess I will just have to wait til monday unless she gets worse in the meantime!!0

Why don't you try NHS direct and see what their advise is.0

I was in A&E for over 3 hours before I was first seen - no triage nurse at all. I thought they prioritised children and would have been furious if it had been my LO.
Cant tell you what its like with cast off but grammargirls post has frightened me even though I'm an adult!
I do hope you get her the follow up treatment she needs - no such thing as a pushy parent when your childs health is concerned.
Hugs to the LO x
I thought they prioritised chldren too but to them she just had a painful foot so she wasnt a priority, never mind the time of night! There was even a drunk man who was being loud and taking up 4 seats in waiting room that was seen before us, he had eaten from his local 'curry house' and had been sick a few times, he thought he had food poisoning and didnt we all know it, he really was quite loud! That did anger me. I am starting to wonder if maybe I should demand her to be seen sooner, like tomorrow. Its not fair that she should be left if it is still causing her probs!!
Thanks for the hugs0 -

Hi Toadyfrog, Thats a good idea, I could see if they suggest waiting or whether she would need to be seen sooner!?! Thank you.

I can tell you their advice would be to take the LO to A&E.
Hi Shelly, Can I ask why you think they would suggest that, do you work for them by anychance?? Thank you :rolleyes:0 -

My daughter broke her arm when she was three, after the plaster came off she wouldn't use her arm for a week or so not because it was painful but because she hadn't used it for weeks she had got used to doing everything one handed.0

Hi Toadyfrog, Thanks for post. I was expecting that to happen to DD, I understood from what I was told that her muscle would be weak/stiff and she may feel slightly wierd using it but I can actually see in her face and the way she screams or yelps in pain when she has tried using it or for example, when she was sliding herself down the stairs at home she 'owwwwwed' everytime her foot hit the next step down as it was pushing her foot straight causing pressure on the tibia bone. I did pick her up after the fourth owwwww but I was still unsure then, as it was on tuesday so only 1 day later, whether it should have been hurting her. If I thought she was just struggling to get used to it or that she was attempting to but unsure then I would be more patient in waiting but as I can see how painful it is to use, its making me more anxious. Hope that makes sense?0 -
I don't think it should be that painful that it would make her yelp, if it was stiff or weak she would still use it maybe tentalively. But I think she is showing signs of it being very painful and I don't think that it right.
Also doctors do get it wrong as you've seen, if your still not happy I would take another trip to A&E maybe in the morning when hopefully it will be quieter.0
