The figures I found were actually sold prices and not asking prices......one look at rightmove will tell you that people still think their houses are worth more and is probably why the sales figures were down by IRO 80% compared to 2006 across all property types although terraced houses surprisingly have been selling better than the big detached...semi's have been hardest hit and they have tended to be the ones which are dipping to 2003 levels now (of course there will be exceptions)

Think we are probably at the stage for the asking prices to start moving down a pace now as the market is soooooo slow.

Life is slower paced here, we always seem to be one of the last in! :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

TIMBER! (House prices still falling like a stone ;))

I would suspect that the sheer lack of transactions has kept the pace of the fall in prices slower than it might otherwise have been.

It would also seem that the increased buyer interest is just that - interest, nothing more tangible.

    Prices back to April 2004.

Anyone who bought a house in the last 5 years has lost money.

I knew there would be 1. Time to sit in the corner with the MSE dunces hat on.

Anyone, but im someone and i bought in 2007:confused: Nowhere near 2004 north of the border, and by all accounts many regions in England and Wales too.

    Where is Dan ??;)

Just a very quick log-on (a day full of meetings) to say this is great news for all you FTBers out there.

Buyer Enquires are up; Mortgage Approvals are up; Interest Rates are at their lowest; and house prices are, on average, 20% lower then 18 months ago.

Surley, it must shortly be the time to buy???

My guess is they wouldn't fiddle the figures. As much as anything else, they would have their credibility destroyed. The embarrassment would be incredible.

i think they are immune to it now, they justcarry on and hang everyone else.

I was of course referring to the statistical average anyone (the one with 2.4 kids and 1.2 cars), not anyone in particular.

Halifax added that "curiosity" in the market was growing.

    Huzzah!

I have been very curious about the property market for 18 months now. Would i fork out for one in a falling market? Not on your Nelly.

That does not really mean HPI is going to return anytime soon.........
  • Well, there's a surprise (not).

Still, the pathetic bull 'optimism' [sic] over the last couple of weeks seems to have flushed out quite a lot of sellers in my area (SW16), so it has served a purpose.
