  • As I said, a matched pair is simply using 2 sticks of the same model RAM, same size, same timings etc. - as your article states.

The article in fact also says they put little trust in manufacturers claiming they've done "optimisations" on matched memory.

As this is a money-saving forum it's useful to point out these money-wasting claims, but if you're happy paying a premium for no benefit good luck to you.
  • It says this under the "Legal Stuff" heading re. the offer:

    • Crucial reserves the right to cancel or change this offer at any time without notice.

Does that give them the right to tell you it's only one per customer and stick to it?

No it doesn't give them the right. They'd have to change the terms for everyone and advertise the fact - they are not doing this, so if you don't get a USB drive with every qualifying order you make I'd complain loudly, because they're breaking the law.

However if they state they're out of stock and are not shipping them to anyone else from that point onwards, it would be a legal reason.
  • Was looking for some extra memory for my pc and had decided what to go for etc and had bookmarked the page till i had a bit of cash, went back yesterday and there seems to be around a 1/3rd off 512Mb/1Gb of RAM from crucial. On top of that you get a free 256Mb usb flash pen drive and to top it off free shipping on orders over £25. I looked at a few other than the 1 I ordered and they all seem to have the same promo signs next to the 512Mb/1Gb ones. here's what I ordered - http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.asp?Mfr%2BProductline=Packard+Bell%2BiXtreme&mfr=Packard+Bell&tabid=AM&model=iXtreme+Power+6000&submit=Go if you click the promo button underneath you'll see the free pendrive and shipping offer on the right. Hope this helps someone.

When you click on it says "Sorry, our free gizmo offer has expired". nevermind.
No reliance should be placed on the above.
