I would imagine that they were swamped with applications.
I applied a couple of days before you and have heard nothing to date.0 -
IIRC, I've had the documentation in the post, as well as an email from them on 10 March:
I applied a couple of days before the deadline.Thank you for your interest in Saffron Building Society.
This email is to confirm that we have received your Regular Saver ISA application for the tax year 2009/10.
Your application will be processed from 6th April (or later if you have postdated your application beyond this date) and you will receive your passbook and welcome pack by the end of April.
If you have any further queries please reply to this email.0 -
I too have had confirmation by e-mail.
Also I only found out about doing the cheque post-dated on here after I sent the application off but did put on the application form for tax year 09/10 and that is how it has been done and the ISA will start from April 6th.Save £12K IN 2013 Member #217 £3654.88/£6,000 (60%)

Having contacted Saffron via their online facility this morning, I have just received the following reply:Thank you for your recent email.
I can confirm that we have received your application form and we will be in contact once the account has been opened in April.

I still haven't heard, so I enquired via their site's Contact Us form. It says [FONT="]“Your enquiry has been received by our Saffron Direct team, who will contact you within 48 hours via email.”

Looks like I'm OK. Saffron replied very promptly with:
"
Thank you for your email, sorry for the delay in responding.
We have your application.
To reassure you, all 09/10 accounts will be opened from 6th April onwards.
best regards

...although we're two weeks into the tax year now and I've still had nothing in the post.0

I applied roughly a week before the deadline and they cashed in the cheque, today. I believe that by the end of the month, all accounts should be active.

Has this been withdrawn now or am I just looking in the wrong place? I can't see ISAs anywhere on their website?0

Yes, I think the closing date for applications was 2nd March. They actually pulled it from their site during the dispatch of the weekly MSE email, presumably in response to the onslaught of applications that we all hammered them with.0
