Hi Doing a few days cruise in may from Southampton. Anyone know of any parking options? Have tried one of the big companies and it costs more to park with them than at an airport!
Thanks

Stay overnight the night before in a local hotel and park there!0

I have reviewed this many times, parking at the dock is the most convenient even though for short cruises it can cost,
By the time you add in taxi fares and time you are back where you started.
With the dock side,
Drive up drop bags, park car in the queue to check in in 10 mins.
getting off the ship, on the way home in 15mins including collecting bags
Add 30mins+ for every other option, big queue for taxis, so you need to pre order a private hire to get the time down.
Depending on the terminal there is parking in the town or hotel within walking distance, but the Southampton hotels are expensive(except etap), if travelling far there are cheaper hotel options out of town and still park at the port.
best option depends where you are coming from.0 -
ALL parking in Southampton is horrendously expensive! Can be £8 a day (plus £3 for overnight). There's not a lot of free/cheap parking left in the city centre area, even at hotels, as they've just opened an Ikea here.0

We are lucky to have got free car parking for our next cruise but I did look at some hotels with free parking. However,as has been said by the time youfactor thge associated costs in it will only be worth it if you want/need an exrra night prior to sailing.0

We paid for Dover port parking and have to say the convenience was far better than any airport, even though it was a couple of pounds more.0

Some of the cruise lines offer reduced parking, if you haven't already investigatedIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

Dover seems a long way from Southampton Docks.
I didn't realise parking charges were so expensive in Southampton to make that worthwhile.

Have used the docks parking at Southampton several times (cruising with Cunard).
Prices are not cheap ! but convenience is great.
I drive into the check-in "hangar", porters take my bags away, I drive the car about 30 yards to the rep for the parking co: he gives me a receipt, I give him the key.
On return: collect keys from office in check-in "hangar", given location of car in car park, wheel trolley with bags to car - 100yds.
Worth it !0 -

LOL.
I was, of course, implying that to park right by your cruise ship has value.
I couldn't quote Southampton as my experience, because I have only ever gone from Dover, but I understand Southampton has a similar arrangement.0 -
My thanks to getmore4less for the constructive comment.
Do I take it that you use ABP Parking?
Going on our first cruise to Norway on the 23rd June - retirement yippeeeee- and would welcome any tips on getting best VFM and what to watch out for.
