A little additional info. If you phone the Asda call centre from the contact details on the new site, the agent who answers your call is in Cape Town-South Africa. I have chatted to a few agents (when having trouble) in Afrikaans and had them almost admit that because they dont have a real concept of where we are...they just dont care to try and help any harder. I no longer use online (have just tried based on this thread to log into new site and been told to re-register. Tried to re-register and was told I'm already registered:rolleyes:)

I'm off to do my first ever shop in Morrisons now because last week when I was in Asda I had to fight the pickers to get to the shelves!!!!They literally dont care that you were looking at THAT particular item...they need to scan it and you're in their way!

As a former employee of this Contact Centre, and not just an Agent there, I find this post rather offensive.

The Agents would NEVER speak Afrikaans on the phone as ASDA made it very clear that this would not be tolerated. Also, in regards to the fact that they admitted that they have no real concept of where you were, are you trying to tell me, an ENGLISHMAN, that I have no idea where the UK is? The Agents are trained fully on both ASDA and UK customs and beliefs, along with geography of the UK, and several agents have actually been sent over to England to experience the UK lifestyle for themselves.

I really wish people such as yourself, before you start to attack an establishment behind the safety of your IP address, would stop and think of the hard work that these Agents do on a day to day basis, working long hours, weekends, no public holdays bar Christmas Day and New years Day, and then still are requested to work additional hours because people will call in to complain that their shopping hasn't arrived because of the snow.

Yes, that happened several times in February. People would call in to complain that their shopping hadn't yet arrived, and when it was mentioned that it was due to the snow backlogging everything, some people would actually state "That's not my problem!". So please show some compassion for the guys that do work in this place, and trust me, it isn't the greatest place to work, because they are trying to provide a service to you.

If you want to rant, don't rant at the people on the phone, rant at the company that does not allow the people on the phone to do true customer service.

    Geniet jou dag.....

Good for you, dn't ever put up with abuse or racism from anyone. I respect your fair reply.
  • Just for anyone else who reaches this thread after looking for details about the asda web site being down....

One issue i've noticed is that if you do things in the "wrong" order, you often have issues which make it look like the website is down

In particular, if you add your items to the basket before booking a delivery slot, you're likely to get an error until that delivery slot times out.

To work around the problem, you will need to book your delivery slot first, before adding items to the trolley. It seems to be related to the system which checks stock levels expected at the time of your delivery.

As an aside, I also much preferred the older website. The new website is slow, clunky and painful to use (and yes, i have a fast computer). Several times i've considered giving up on the whole thing and going to tesco. One of the major issues for this website for me is that if you add everything from your shopping list into your trolley, you have to alter quantities using the +/- buttons instead of typing them in - which is painfully slow.
