What Essentials must I leave in Rented Pr?

  • I know bit wierd the headboard thing. I myself though it was a bit "trampy" looking with just a bare bed and no headboard....but i will get a vacuum cleaner. the letting agent mentioned it was a youngish couple who were interested and they lived with her mother, so think it be first home for them...they may not have much to bring....
  • My house is let "furnished" for 1 because in Scotland it gives me more rights to get it back

    But buying new :undecided

If I have got what the TV is saying right; there is actually a sortage of "good" secure rented accomadation out there; as more people face eviction (be it for as a result of their own or their LL none-payment) so why do you need with a property you own outright; to give people luxury jam

My tenant moved in 5 yrs ago; to a house that needed radiators down-stairs and a new kitchen (he now has both; he picked his kitchen, and it's a good one not a basic) but my/his settee is still the one I got for him from the charity shop; his spare single bed is still the one I wasn't going to have my step-sons sleeping on everynight, but then his son visits 1 night a month

He didn't get kettles or cutlery, and my step-son's new furnished tenants won't be getting that either; settee, beds, cooker, fridge; the rest is well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • The flat I am renting at the moment is fully furnished with absolutely everything you could think of, including plates, cutlery, etc. I find it quite annoying actually as I can't buy anything new for the house, as it is full of stuff landlord provided!

I would say white goods in the kitchen are a MUST and fridge, washing machine.

Ironing board, vacuum cleaner, and if garden must be kept, garden tools.

Then little details that make the place "homy", wall hook to place coats when you come home.

Little wall shelves in bathroom to place his and hers stuff :p

I think all in all, everything you would like to receive yourself if you were renting:j

Can I just say, it seems you will be an excellent landlord/lady, just buying a leather suite shows it:T

Most places I have rented they were so inhospitable, it seems the owners were not human at all !!!

In the end, do onto others as you would like to be done to you:o

Good luck with your renting !!!:T
  • awh....i got a real bargain in the leather suite from tesco and it is lovely....would have loved it for my own house.....
i am def going to buy a vacuum......stilkl not sure about Microwave and Ironing Board....maynot mention and see if the new tenants do....have spent so much already...and would still want to sell if the market starts to pick up
i have been married so long and in same hosue and never rented so not sure what the score is

People don't expect brand new everything with furnished - frankly they'll be pleased just to find it furnished! I wouldn't have bought new white goods but if I were in your position now, if the new stuff is nicer than your own, and you own are working then I'd swap round. That way you provide a furnished house to rent, and get nice new stuff to enjoy yourself! :)
