I remember this on the giol board and followed with intreast. I thought at the time it was an unrealistic goal with a small float, but setting a challenge is great and it would be amazing if it was reached.

I assume that you will be doing more than just mb? It would be possible to make 50k in a year from that but it would require a big starting float. Also if you are as tight as me then a lot should be saved up from a job. It always amazed me how fast people at work went through their paycheck buying pointless crap that they did not need.

Is ebay selling very profitable? I remember you mentioning something about that and if decent money can be made from it I might give it a go.

Good to see you are out of the red!

    Is that £600 including salary???

Had a quick look at matched betting, but seems way to complicated - and I haven't really got the initial outlay for it.

I am now including salary in everything - just to create a single snapshot of my finances.

MBing looks complex but it is not AT ALL. I am the biggest dummy in the world at maths but MBing is easy... really easy. You can download a spreadsheet that does all the calculations for you - it's just a case of point and click. And you can start with a very small float - maybe £50.00.

I will be doing MBing and anything else at all I can do to make this happen.

I never, ever buy pointless crap ever. Everything I own in this world could probably be fitted into 4-5 average cardboards boxes. I am really tight with money.

One of the reasons I had very little to start with is because I had been travelling for a few months before hand and I had found it almost impossible to find work that paid anything like what I used to get... so I ended up with £6 per hour temp jobs. Fortunately, that changed recently!

As far as Ebay - I am going to sell off the odds and sodds I have sitting around that I don't need. Not much all really but I have a policy of "anything, anytime, anywhere".

BTW I hope everybody is enjoying this. I say that because it's no longer just a money-making blog for me but a quest to just positively change my life around.

For example, I had been eating SO MUCH junk food over the last few years. About 3-4 weeks ago I gave up all junk food, dairy (allergic), wheat (allergic), sugar etc. In the 3-4 weeks I have had about 4 bags of crisps, 1 can of coke and 1 pizza... something like that. Apart from that, it's all wholefoods and vitamins. This has made a huge difference to my life - I am rapidly losing weight, my skin is healthier, I am sleeping better, I have much more energy (I am writing this at 22:21 - if I had been eating junk food today I would be too tired to focus on it), I feel a lot happier, I am learning faster, working harder (keeps the bosses happy) etc.

As I say, the diary was advertised as a money-making diary but it will ultimately be what it will be. I just hope the readers enjoy it and are inspired to help themselves as well.

If I get to the end of the this and I only have 5p to my name, I will still feel good about it all because I already feel good about it all and that will stay with me.

Dunno if this counts, but got bored so played some online poker,

Was doing well untill I got gubbed at a few tables, so decided to leave before I numptied away the rest of my profit...

£20 aint bad, i'll not mention how far I was up...

Bar that not really had any arbs worth mentioning today, mainly been chasing up free bets...

I like your idea though of reaching 50k through any means, I'm tempted to forget my ISA now and beef up my float further...

Considering my isa at ~3% you would only need to arb .057% a week to match, its not terribly hard to beat returns considering you could easily find an arb iro 0.5-2.5% at least once a week...

Actually, i've just compared how much i've bet at the bookies/layed at the exchange etc, and my returns are ~6% of what i've risked sofar, a figure which should be higher, but the wr on some bets are fairly sizeable...

That and does anyone else find it annoying that if you try and total up your arbs profit on ultimatcher, its a tad annoying if you find an arb as a qualifier cause its rather tricky to get the formula to add that up too?

Totally agree about junk food. That stuff drains you of energy and massivly increases risk of diabetes, cancers and heart disease.

A great thing to increase your mb earings is the Lads 3 to 1 offer. I made almost £500 from that during Cheltenman week for £200 stakes which you probably need about a 4k float for. If you have less then the stakes can be reduced and decent profits still made. It is worth signing up to Lads, even if they have a poor signup offer, just for this promotion.

Also to increase your arb profits your bets should be fully underlayed so you just break even at the exchange. This ensures big wins at the bookie when you win, the difference is massive at big odds, and higher profits over time as value is obtained at the bookie side. Infact profit would be made even if the bets were not laid off, because the odds obtained on arbs are nearly always higher than the probability of an event actually occuring, but variance is a !!!!!.

See this is something i've been contemplating, obv if your wins average out, then you make the same either way, if you tend to win more at long odds, then well you make more, and opposite if you win less.

I might need to do the maths and look into this further to find out if this seems more viable for myself.

I do on occasion underlay to try and bust out at the bookies, and if not like you said above, have a bigger arb for my troubles...

Thanks for the tips guys. I've never underlayed before - maths is NOT my strong point - and I will try to get my head around the system you described. Be prepared for questions!

  • Hi all

Seems like everyone is doing well which is great :)

Might as well update a bit as well, working on a couple of bookies for Match Betting and I was lucky enough to get the Bet24 fifty offer too!

I am enjoying the thread :)
