Hi guys I have two questions
If thats ok?
1) My mum says that you can buy a thick wall paint that covers minor cracks and it's good to use....is this true? has anyone used it before? and how much more does it cost than normal paint?
2) The light went out in my hotpoint fridge freezer I bought a replacement bulb but it's not lit up when putting it in...is there anything else that could have blown instead?

Fridge Light: Does the door Switch work? Or is it stuck? FYI: There should be a little plastic plunge switch on the door to turn the light on when door opens-Not trying to be smart about switch,But did not know if you knew it would have one!! It might be stuck OFF in the pushed in position.
To cover cracks: i squirt decorators chalk into a tub then brush it on and paint it-You can get this stuff from the pound shop!! It dries Matt finish with no shine and works fine on cracks 2-3mmOH THE JOYS OF BEING SELF-EMPLOYED!! Can Travel,Will Work For Free!0 -

Ive checked the fridge it does have a switch thingy yeah but doesn't appear to be stuck..Ive had a fiddle with it anyway and there has been no difference.0 -
The fridge light could be a loose connection inside the fitting. My parents fridge did this, and would only come on you gave it a quick wiggle (Or a bash....lol). Could also be the micro switch thats controlled by the plunge switch. Either way, theres not much you could do withouth professional help. Unless youre quite technically minded that is.
With regards to the cracks, there are products out there that do this. I believe polyfilla do one, but dont know how much it is. I dont think its extortionately more expensive than the normal stuff. Have a look in your local B&Q, as theyre most likely to do it.

Is the actual fridge working? ie, is it still cold?!0

For the cracks you can use Polycell Basecoat/Basecoat complete, works well on small cracks.0

Has anyone tried Polycell SmothOver for Damaged walls? If the cracks are deeper, that might be an option. Haven't tried myself yet, but looking into it for when we move into next house, which has all walls wallpapered - never know what is going to happed when the wallpaper is removed!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

We looked at it but it seemed a little over the top for what we were trying to cover up. I am considering it for smoothing over a patch of plastering which doesn't quite sit flush due to the wall not being entirely straight so would also be interested in hearing from anyone who has used it.0

IMHO its a waste of money and actually quite hard to use. I tried it back when we moved into our first house and found that it was very hard to get looking right. I have since adopted the method of using artex and a caulking paddle. It is much more workable and very easy to hand sand once it dries. Cost of caulking paddle and a large bag of artex is probably around £10-15. Cost of smooth over is about £25. Coverage is much better with Artex too!
Hope this is useful rather than sounding like a rant :mad:Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0 -
