Hi,
We are looking to buy bulk quantities of meat. I only eat Chicken and Pork but my OH eats beef and lamb too. We are looking for places in Gloucestershire to buy meat either from a farm shop, butchers etc. Has anyone got any recommendations. Thanks

Just put in your address or post code and you'll get a map showing all sorts of farm shops, veg box schemes, organic shops and so on - all local to you.

Its all about knowing who to ask.
Farmers are quite happy to send an extra lamb to slaughter for you - I pay about 60 quid for a whole fresh lamb (butchered into cuts). A friend pays £1 for 6 free range, local grown, picked that day eggs down at the local pub.
My advice is to get to know the local farmers/producers.0 -
are there any big cash and carry places around your area ,eg makro or costco ,
they have a butchery departments in these i usually get all my meat in there ,
i had a full lamb for £59 cut to my specifications ,i also had a huge piece of sirlion steak for £33 which when sliced gave me 36 steaks and a bag of diced steak , which at less than a £1 per large sirlion steak works out at an amazing saving from supermarket prices
the nearest makro to you is probably bristol if that helps0 -
I can recommend a good butcher in Worcestershire if that's any help? What part of Gloucs are you in?0

there is a Costco in Bristol if that's not too far from you in Gloucs. It's not open to the public (there is criteria for membership) but you could ring them and ask to save the journey. I buy all my meat from there and it's very good stuff (British too - well the beef and chicken I've bought is at least).I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Thanks for all the help we might go and look at some local farm shops near Cheltenham/Evesham this weekend. If anyone knows of any places they go to near here then please let me know.0
