AOL platinum

I have been with aol for a few years and to begin with i took the free month. I decided after the month i would try someone else and phoned to cancel. They said as i was a good customer(!) they would give me another free month. They did this 3 times in all.
I then upgraded to broadband silver and a few months later got a laptop and wanted wireless. I thought aol gave you a free router with broadband gold (24.99) so i phoned to upgrade. I was told you only got the router with platinum (29.99) but i said this was too much. I said i would take the gold if they gave me a free router. She went and checked and came back and told me i could have the free router and the platinum for the same price as gold!
The moral of the story is aol will always give you something if you ask. If you are thinking of going with aol or want to upgrade, check and see what they can do first.
After all, you are such a good customer!!!
I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)

Not with me, i was with AOL for 4yrs, silver service £19.99 reduced to £17.99, asked them if the could match Telewest £9.99.
As a valued customer i could continue to pay £17.99, thats was their best offer.
Bye Bye AOL, hello telewest £24.99 for BB,TV and Telephone, p/m, cancelled BT so no standing rental charge.
A thankyou is payment enough .

i am with aol,i wanted to downgrade from platinum to silver bb,guess what they wont let me ,they say im in a contract cause i upgraded to platinum, but £29.99 is a lot a month, and i could never get the wireless working with them.

i now have bt,but i wanted to keep aol on main pc for a while hence keeping the silver bb,do i have rights to cancel,if ppl lose their jobs etc...how can they pay?

When you take broadband with aol you take a years contract. They do tell you that. It is the same with sky tv, you take a years contract and even if you move house a do not need sky in the new place, they will take out the money you owe them.
Most places are the same. I cannot see how you can get out of this but i do know if you want to UPGRADE they will do it for you straight away, so technically they should put you back down.
Try ringing them and telling them you cannot afford platinum anymore and see what they say. Be nice and they they may charge you silver price for platinum - if only for a few months.

i did but they said they cannot do that,i tried saying i cannot afford it and i will cancel the dd,the best she could do is offer me a free month,i said ok for now but she said she would send an conformation email to confirm this but she never did.surly its better they get £17.99 a month than nothing at all.
  • i am with aol for 2 years when i 1st went with them i wanted to cancel they asked why i said i would get it cheaper with bt they gave me aol gold for £20 a month that was 2 years ago still got it for £20 a month
  • I have been with aol for 2 years on silver and I am happy with it. Phoned them today to see what they can do, got upgraded to 1mb, dropped the price to 15.99 a month and got some free software.
