I'm very unhappy with NTL after tonight.....

Hi everyone, I used the "guide" on this forum on how to cut your broadband costs with NTL, and I thought I did quite well with the deal I got a few weeks back until I got my bill today. Let me explain.......
I phoned up a few weeks back and managed to strike a deal where I got upgraded from 2MB to 10MB, and got "Talk Unlimited" for an extra £4 a month (Or so I thought) Anyway, I phoned up today after getting a phonebill with an extra £20 pounds worth of charges!
I was told by the very snotty call handler that there were no notes on her system that I've been given these services for that price so I'd been charged the full amount! In the end I've been put back to 2mb broadband, and I'm getting "Talk Unlimited" for an extra £8 a month! What a great deal eh?
I really thinking about changing my broadband provider, is it worth it? Who should I go with? I can have a BT line put in, as I have the connection all ready for it. Are Wanadoo any good?
Would it be worth changing my phone provider as well? Are BT any cheaper? Would I be able to keep my phone number as well? I would be helpful for any tips on this matter, thanks

Before you do anything hasty, make sure if you've agreed entering in to any new 12 month agreement (many NTL offers are subject to this). If you have, leaving in haste could be expensive. So check what your exit options are.
You could get your NTL bill down to the lowest possible. £8 for "unlimited" calls is probably a waste of money unless you do use the phone loads. You have got a handful of options to use other phone companies for calls but stick with your NTL phone line (see http://wakeup.to/cheapercablecalls ) .
If you are able to ditch NTL without any argey-bargey, then BT will be able to take on the same phone number - but contact BT about this first, DO NOT cancel with NTL first as only "live" numbers can be transferred. Remember there will be £11/month line rental to BT on top of the broadband service that you then go for.0
