Hi Jim
I'm so sorry to hear about the terrible time you've had lately and now this blow about your puppy on top of everything else.
It's hard to know what to say for the best.
I guess it's going to be tough telling the family, but I hope you can all support each other through this.
As Birdy12 says, you don't have to hide your feelings because you're a man.
I hardly like to ask if your pup's insured and exactly what the vet has said about how bad the cancer is.
Even if you post most on here, you might like to try the 'Pets & Pet Care' board (under Moneysaving in Families etc).
Wishing you all the best.0 -
She is so full of life, you would never know she was sick. I just gave her a little tickle behind the knee and there it was, like a conker.
If only I'd known about how common this is I'd have checked regularly.
I do this with deer all the time but missed it in my own dog.0 -
jim, like others i dont know what to say but just to let you know i am thinking of you...take care0

So sorry for you but just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you. Sometimes life is very hard and I just concentrate on the think directly in front of me. Life has become a fast instant society where we no longer appreciate the simple pleasures. When you get home just have a hug with whoever is there......it`s far superior to any habit / addiction and free. Will be thinking about youHello Payday! How are. . Hey where are you going? . . Please don't walk out on me.
. Come back!0 -
Thanks again.
I'm going offline now and heading home. If they sack me, they sack me, I'm beyond caring at the moment.
Your a good hearted bunch. If only all the boards here were like you all but there are some well nasty pieces of work on some - funny that, isnt it?0 -
Jim
take care, give the pup a cuddle and give yourself time.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hey Norfolk_jim, I've been a lurker for a while and not posted, but the puppy tale has tugged at my heart strings! Even had to register to post!
It is so sad, I too lost a dog to cancer last year, and cried buckets. Kids actually fared better and were not too bad. Best thing is that the insurance in our case didn't pay out as she had had a lump removed 4 years earlier and they cited it as the same existing condition! Doh! Cost us over £1000 in the end (on top of our existing £73k debt - ouch!)
But in all these things, there is light at the end of the seemingly dark tunnel and you just need to keep walking torwards it. Be strong, and trust in those around you and the great people on these boards.
Sure you will make the right decisions and work it out.0 -
I'm sitting here crying my eyes out for you, your family and your dog. We have 3 dogs and a cat, all rescued. Yes, it's so hard when they go, because they are a part of your family, even if it's just for a little while and they give so much pleasure and unmitigated love. You have to remember as well that you have given that little pup a fantastic life with sticks and balls to play with, walks and love. Keep strong, keep posting and we are all here for you.

Hi Jim,
knowing how much i love my cat and would do anything if she was ill, have you thought about getting a referal for your puppy to The Animal Health Trust? Or Cambidge University Vet School?
My neighbours cat went missing for 11 days and when he was found he was examined and found that he had 2 brain tumors. He was operated on at the CU Vet School with a sucessful outcome. As you have pet ins, this mioght be something to consider.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!

can we all form an orderly queue to give the puppy a cuddle!! poor little love, at least you can say you are giving her the best life possible, thats all anyone can hope for, none of us know how long we have, whether you are a human or a doggie. so give her the best time possible in the time she has left whether its long or short)
