MAE - It is true that most of the big leasing companies like LEX sell at auction, BCA have special auctions for ex-lease cars. But some of the car rental companies like Hertz, Avis etc. used to sell direct to the public, don't know if they still do, but if I were you I would browse the net for further information, maybe e-mail a few companies.

    Hi

I find the best place to get a low mileage well maintained car is from an auction house that sells Ex Motability cars.

90% of these cars have less than 36K on the clock.
The majority have less than 20K.

The reasons for the low mileage is twofold- 1. Obviously they are driven by persons with a disability, and tend not to get used so much. 2.Motability put a limit of 12K per year on their vehicles, anything over this and the driver has to cough up more money at the end of the three year contract.

I have got my last couple of cars this way, and have never had any problems.

Try this site for an idea of what is available -

    http://www.westburyma.co.uk/

To get a value of what they are likely to sell for -

    http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/

Click on the Value my car section and put in the details.

    Good Luck

A search on Google for "ex-motability cars" turned up masses of sites, so if westbury motor auctions are not within easy reach you could probably find one nearer on there.
